Job Description
Responsibilities:
• Recommend, develop, and implement organizational guidelines, procedures, and strategies to improve the HR function and best support employees
• Review, track, and ensure compliance with all governing + local laws and regulations
• Provide ongoing, comprehensive HR support to Guangzhou and Dongguan China offices; collaborate with cross functional business leaders on global HR strategic plan and delivery - align HR function across Otabo’s multiple offices while maintaining cultural appropriateness
• Perform benefits administration; research + implement additional benefit offerings to remain competitive within market
• Recruit, interview, and facilitate the hiring of qualified candidates for open positions within the highly competitive China talent market; work with various department managers to understand skills and competencies required for all open positions
• Conduct regular talent reviews and develop succession plans to ensure health talent supply
• Conduct employee eligibility and background checks, new hire orientation and onboarding
• Create and administer employee development plans, employee recognition programs, and annual review cycle
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory change, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; recommend appropriate updates to HR program accordingly
• Provide effective support for major organizational development initiatives to enable significant organizational growth and rapid expansion
• Participate in evening calls with our team in the US, as needed
• Travel is a requirement for this position and will typically include 1-2 international trips per year and multiple trips between GZ + DG offices

What we’re looking for:
• Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or related discipline or equivalent experience
• 5+ years’ successful experience in human resource, 2 of which in HR management; experience within footwear, apparel or accessories manufacturing companies strongly preferred
• In-depth knowledge of Health & Safety regulations for China, Local Government Employment regulations and operational excellence
• Proficient in HR software and payroll systems and advanced knowledge of employee insurance / social security regulations
• Demonstrated ability to solve problems quickly and creatively; ability to dissect complex goals into actionable tasks and steps for execution
• A willingness to collaborate with teams, maintaining a cross-functional perspective and growth mindset
• Excellent relationship building abilities and teamwork focus; capacity to build networks in a multicultural, global environment and to influence others to make things happen
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills with advanced English; professional fluency in speaking, reading, and writing are strictly required
