Job Description
Key Responsibilities
1. Teaching and Learning:
Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality, inquiry-based lessons in History for assigned grade levels, aligning with the school's chosen curriculum (e.g., IGCSE, IB, AP).
Teach students to analyze historical sources, understand cause and effect, evaluate evidence, and construct well-reasoned arguments.
Foster critical thinking, research skills, and an understanding of multiple historical perspectives.
Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation, curiosity, and intellectual risk-taking.
Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs, language abilities, and cultural backgrounds of students in an international setting.
2. Assessment and Reporting:
Develop and implement a variety of formative and summative assessment strategies to monitor and evaluate student progress.
Provide timely, constructive, and specific feedback to students to promote academic growth.
Maintain accurate records of student achievement and prepare comprehensive reports for parents and school administration.
Prepare students for external examinations and internal assessments as required by the curriculum.
3. Professional and Community Engagement:
Collaborate effectively with colleagues within the Humanities department and across other subject areas.
Participate actively in departmental meetings, professional development sessions, and school-wide events.
Establish and maintain positive, professional communication with parents regarding student progress and well-being.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
A Bachelor’s degree in History, Social Sciences, or a closely related field.
A recognized teaching qualification preferred (e.g., PGCE, Teaching License).
A minimum of 2 years of successful teaching experience in History, preferably within a bilingual or international school environment.
Demonstrable experience with at least one major international curriculum (e.g., IGCSE History, IB DP History, AP World History/European History).
Highly Desirable:
A Master’s degree in History, Education, or a related discipline.
