Job Summary
We are seeking a creative and enthusiastic Primary Drama Teacher to join our IB school in Chongqing. The successful candidate will deliver engaging drama and performing arts instruction aligned with the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) philosophy, nurturing students’ creativity, confidence, collaboration, and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
Teach Drama / Performing Arts to Primary School students within the IB PYP framework
Design and deliver inquiry-based lessons that align with IB learner profile and transdisciplinary themes
Foster students’ creativity, self-expression, collaboration, and performance skills
Plan and lead class performances, showcases, and school productions as appropriate
Integrate drama with other subject areas to support transdisciplinary learning
Assess and document student progress in line with IB assessment practices
Create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
Collaborate with classroom teachers, PYP coordinators, and arts department staff
Communicate effectively with parents regarding student learning and development
Participate in school events, meetings, professional development, and extracurricular activities
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or above in Drama, Theatre, Performing Arts, Education, or a related field
Valid teaching qualification or relevant professional certification
Experience teaching primary-aged children
Familiarity with IB PYP or inquiry-based learning is strongly preferred
Strong classroom management and child-centered teaching skills
Passion for drama education and creative arts
Excellent communication skills in English (native or near-native proficiency)
Preferred Qualifications
IB PYP training or IB workshop certification
Experience in international or bilingual schools
Ability to contribute to whole-school productions or extracurricular drama activities
Experience working with EAL/ESL learners
