International Baccalaureate (IB) Homeroom Teacher (kindergarten)
Reporting to: Head of Secondary
Location: Guangzhou
Start date:August,2026
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced IB Homeroom Teacher to join our dynamic international school community. The successful candidate will be responsible for guiding students through their academic and personal development. This role requires a compassionate mentor, a skilled communicator, and a collaborative educator committed to the IB philosophy and holistic student growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. Student Guidance & Pastoral Care
Act as the primary point of contact for assigned homeroom students, fostering a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
Monitor students’ academic progress, well-being, and social-emotional development.
Provide individualized guidance on subject selection, study habits, time management, and goal-setting.
Identify and address students’ academic or personal challenges, collaborating with counselors, learning support staff, and parents as needed.
2. Academic Support & IB Programme Delivery
Ensure students understand IB programme requirements, deadlines, and assessment criteria .
Facilitate homeroom sessions focused on IB learner profile development, research skills, and reflection.
3. Communication & Collaboration
Maintain regular communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress, well-being, and IB programme updates.
Work closely with IB coordinators, subject teachers, and university counselors to support students’ academic pathways and university applications.
Participate in parent-teacher conferences, student-led conferences, and IB-related meetings.
4. Administrative Duties
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, academic performance, and pastoral notes.
Assist in organizing IB-related events,
Contribute to the development and review of homeroom and pastoral care policies.
5. Professional Development & School Community Involvement
Engage in ongoing professional learning related to IB pedagogy, adolescent development, and inclusive education.
Participate actively in school-wide initiatives, faculty meetings, and accreditation processes.
Promote the school’s mission and values through positive engagement with students, colleagues, and the wider community.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
Bachelor’s degree in Education or a relevant field; teaching certification/license.
Minimum 3 years of teaching experience, preferably in an IB or international school setting.
Strong pastoral care skills and experience mentoring adolescents.
Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal abilities.
Fluency in English (working language of the school).
Desirable
IB-specific training (e.g., Category 1, 2, or 3 workshops).
Experience guiding students through Extended Essays, CAS, or Personal Projects.
Knowledge of university admissions processes and career guidance.
Proficiency in additional languages relevant to the school community.
