Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Be directly involved in IB teaching and learning
• Work with class teachers to identify, source and purchase relevant books, resources, stories, research materials, magazines, posters, website lists that will support the curriculum;
• Monitor journals, and other print and electronic sources for relevant curriculum material in response to learner and teacher requests and identified needs;
• Assist with supporting both learners and teachers with research for Extended Essays;
• Promote academic honesty policy to students and teach students search skills and citation and reference;
• Lead special events such as visiting authors, book week and literary competitions.

2. Promote and participate in staff learning and development
• Assist teachers and learners to become independent users of online resources;
• Promote professional learning of support staff in the Library;
• Work with program coordinators in coordinating and implementing the school’s Academic Honesty policy.

3. Establishing library goals and plans align with IB standards and the needs of staff and learners

4. Other tasks assigned by the Head of Library

Personal Specification:
Qualifications and Training
• A PHD degree with Library Science major, plus teaching qualification (or equivalent);
• Strong academic research ability and experience;
• Evidence of IB Librarian professional certificates preferred.

Experience
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in teaching learners with diverse needs, especially ESL;
• Experience in international school libraries (preferred).

Knowledge and Understanding
• Practical understanding of effective teaching and learning strategies;
• Theoretical understanding of effective teaching and learning strategies;
• Relevant curriculum knowledge, including CIE and IB assessment practices;
• Understanding and knowledge of principles and practice of inclusion;
• Understanding of the role of the Library as an information centre;
• Knowledge of literature that is appropriate to learners in a school;
• Understanding how the Library can support the curriculum;
• Good level of IT skills.
