Position Overview:
We are seeking an inspiring, highly qualified, and experienced A Level English Teacher to join our dynamic faculty. The successful candidate will be passionate about literature and language, adept at delivering a challenging curriculum, and committed to nurturing each student’s analytical prowess, creative voice, and lifelong love for English. You will play a key role in preparing students for top universities worldwide.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Teaching & Learning:

Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, student-centered lessons for A Level courses.
Foster a classroom environment that encourages critical thinking, scholarly debate, and a deep appreciation for diverse texts and contexts.
Expertly guide students through close reading, textual analysis, essay writing, and oral commentary, aligning with exam board assessment criteria.
Differentiate instruction to meet the varied learning needs, abilities, and interests of students within an international classroom.
Integrate educational technology effectively to enhance learning outcomes.
2. Assessment & Feedback:

Design, administer, and mark formative and summative assessments, including mock exams, coursework, and Internal Assessments.
Provide timely, detailed, and constructive feedback to support student progress and target exam success.
Maintain accurate records of student achievement, attendance, and behaviour.
3. Pastoral & Academic Guidance:

Act as a mentor and academic advisor, supporting students' overall wellbeing and intellectual development.
Provide expert guidance to students on university applications, particularly for competitive humanities courses, including personal statement review.
4. Professional & Collaborative Duties:

Contribute actively to the English Department through curriculum development, resource sharing, and participation in meetings and professional learning communities.
Participate in school-wide events, parent-teacher conferences, and open days.
Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with pedagogical best practices and exam board requirements.
Person Specification:

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

A Bachelor’s degree in English Literature, English Language, or a directly related field. A Master’s degree is highly desirable.
A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS).
Minimum of 3 years of proven, successful experience teaching A Level English in a reputable secondary school.
In-depth knowledge of at least one major A Level exam board English curriculum.
Native English.
