Job Description
PRIMARY FUNCTION: The purpose of this position is to support the deployment of the ELSS (Eaton Lean Six Sigma) and CIF (Continuous Improvement Framework) tools across the facility in alignment with the plant Manufacturing Strategy to achieve the safety, quality, delivery, and financial targets for the site. This person will take on an active role in defining and driving cost out initiatives to a successful outcome while working with diverse teams. Individual will be required to have detailed knowledge of all projects, the alignment of such projects with Current and Future state, and to understand and help mitigate potential implementation risks. The position role is accountable to document cost out performance by assuring the Cost Out tracking is updated and aligned to meet objectives. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Contribute in the advancement of the organization in the Operations Assessment (OpA). Execute the initiatives of the organization in the development, implementation and improvement of the Eaton Lean Systems throughout the operation, with all the documentation and metrics required. Analyze key metrics related to the Eaton Lean System on the Balanced Scorecard (relevant to the position) and perform periodical reviews to evaluate results and recommend action plans to close the gaps at an operational level. Participate in the performance management process and provide input to the appropriate functions in terms of career development interests. Adhere to the budget of the Lean organization. Develops strategic plan for the plant to exceed OpA/ELSS requirements. Leads ELSS Self-assessment team and conducts training and audits quarterly. Develops implementation plans with Business Team and Operational Leaders after quarterly reviews. (Tactical Plans). Facilitates the Plant CIF Council that consists of Business Team Leaders, Staff members, and Operational Excellence Leaders. Council monitors OpA, ELSS and Lean BSC metrics and redirects activities and resources as needed to exceed requirements. Plans and deploys training to support Lean Manufacturing Engineer, TPM Coordinator, OEE Coordinator, and other ELSS tool Champions to sustain needed deployment levels at the Plant. Trains Kaizen team leaders to facilitate events. Coordinates and drives a structured closure process on follow-up activities. Has the ability to lead and train diverse teams. Supports on the achievement of Plant Cost Out goals as established by Profit plan (BSC metric) and attains CI Cost Outs. Supports sharing of best practices as result of internal and external benchmarking activities. Participates as a member of Eaton Continuous Improvement Council. Implements, promotes and maintains a safe work environment by implementing a culture of accidents prevention, investigation, equipment maintenance and application of rules. Identify, control and administer risk and danger in own area. Promotes the company’s vision by actively supporting Eaton’s ethics and values as well as quality policies. Motivate and coach employees to maintain high levels of satisfaction, productivity, and quality through effectively utilizing available rewards and recognition channels to encourage and promote desired behaviors and results. Develop and implement new or revised manufacturing methods in assigned area to reduce production costs, improve efficiency and eliminate waste. Responsible to lead, facilitate and execute Poka-yokes improvements through their areas and present them during the quarterly VG competition. Work with operations leadership and operational excellence resources to ensure best practices are shared across the organization. Participate on Project Deck Building initiatives (IDB, Brainstorming sessions, Transactional projects) to generate a project pipeline for the plant that will maintain a cadence for continuous Improvement. Qualifications SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE Industrial Engineering degree or related fields required. (Quality, Statistics, preferred) English – language capability, speaking, reading and writing required. 1 to 3 years of experience in a similar position Six Sigma Black belt or Greenbelt would be a plus Comprehensive knowledge of all Lean, Industrial Engineering and Manufacturing activities including methods, processing, tooling, plant layout, workflow, manufacturing cost control and reduction. Extensive knowledge of lean manufacturing in order to analyze, evaluate and determine solution to a wide variety of problems that may affect his/her assigned area Strong leadership skills must be capable of leading their organization on a continuous journey of sustained improvement. Knowledge of behavioral science, including the ability to motivate, counsel, and constructively deal with people at all levels. Good communication skills Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Computer Skills (Excel, PowerPoint, AutoCad, ProModel, Visio, Minitab or statistical software preferred) Project management skills (preferred) Understanding of problem-solving methods (Six Sigma, 8D, root cause analysis) Detail Oriented Goal-oriented What you will get from us Eaton’s mission is to improve the quality of life and the environment through the use of power management technologies and services.
