Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a world-leading manufacturer of industrial gases, is seeking a self- motivated/ self-starter to fill an I&E TECHNICIAN position at our New Orleans, LA facility.
You will be responsible to perform and/or supervise the inspection, troubleshooting and repair, installation, modification and calibration of process controls and equipment, safety systems, analyzers, PLC and DCS systems, field instrumentation in Air Products operated plants and satellite facilities.
The position is a 4 day, 10 hour work week. Monday through Thursday with a rotating on call duty.
Responsibilities include:
- Technicians must be familiar with all equipment in plants served. A sampling of these devices include transmitters, switches, analyzers, programmable controllers, proximity devices, level control systems, control valves, equipment and personnel safety systems, paymeter systems, and others.
- Technicians are also responsible for troubleshooting and working with Engineering Support to maintain distributed control systems. This is a most rapidly changing technical area and requires a high level of technical training.
- Prepare and provide technical reports and required documentation. Enter information into SAP to provide accurate documentation and information for equipment.
Qualifications / Requirements:
- High school diploma/equivalent
- Experience with calibration and troubleshooting of industrial plant instrumentation and controls is preferred but will consider recent tech school graduates with high potential.
- Some knowledge of PLC and DCS controls
- Strong computer skills
- Ability to work in an industrial environment that includes climbing ladders and stairs, lifting up to 50 lbs., working at heights and in confined spaces
- Ability to travel on short notice and work extended hours when in the field
- Ability to work in a team environment, with safety first as a primary focus
- Ability to communicate effectively across technical, operations and maintenance lines
