Located in Vance, Alabama, the MBUSI facility is one of the most advanced automotive manufacturing facilities in the world, comprised of over 6 million square feet and currently employs over 3,800 Team Members. The MBUSI plant in Tuscaloosa is the traditional home of SUV production for the current GLE, GLE coupé, and GLS model series. Since June 2014, the plant has also produced the C-Class for the North American market. The plant in Alabama was the first major Mercedes-Benz production facility outside Germany and is regarded as the nucleus of the automotive industry in Alabama.

Essential Functions:                     
- Project management of a series KSP (kitting, sequencing, and preassembly) cell in Assembly 2

- Development of a new KSP cell in Plant 1 that mirrors the series KSP

- Working within the Series Planning Team on current 167 daily production and overlapping into the new EVA2 project (electric vehicle)

- Working with a Series Planning Specialist to write stack briefs, track project activities, write MV MTM (manufacturing variability Method Time Measurement)

- Development of layouts for the new cell, and run through process capabilities   

- Cross-functional tasks with focus on engineering change control and project management during car launches  

- Preparing mid-term, and end of term review with mentor and manager of Series Planning 

- Presenting project in several stages: proposal (idea), alignment (budget and timeline), and results

- Presenting presentation results at the end of term review     

Education:
 
Student in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering
 
Necessary Skills, Certifications, etc.:
 
Fluent in English (oral/written)
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
Experience in Project Management 
Preferred experience in Catia, SAP/AMSupply, Boolean logic, Production 4M principles and basics of process efficiency

 
Preferred Start Date (2 positions)

July/ August 2020
 
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in University or in a gap year between bachelor and master’s study
- At least (3) semesters of studies in relevant field of study
- Available for a minimum of 6 months
- Studies outside of the U.S.A.
