Join our UK regional Intellectual Property team as IP Counsel – Digital Businesses to help us re-imagine the world by finding solutions and making the world a better place for tomorrow. The position is flexible on location and travel depending on how you like to work with our businesses and grow your role. The role will be site-independent, not office-based, with travel to clients when and where needed. The IP team in the UK is small, but growing, and this position is a key part of enabling that growth in our digital businesses. This could be anything from system-on-chip applications, modelling, EV charging or railway signalling. We are looking for someone who aspires to expand their experience and engage directly with our fantastic and growing local client-base from across all Siemens plc in UK&I. Feel free to click on this link to see what it’s like to work here; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-vmmNjaEr04 What will you deliver: Be the key contact for IP matters in your businesses providing advice on any and all IP issues, encouraging inventors or board-level briefings. Support product development processes (including stage-gate and Agile development, such as mitigation of third-party IP risks and defining IP strategy in line with the product’s market strategy to create and maintain the product IP portfolio). Identify new opportunities for protecting innovation in the UK&I, including with external partners, and liaise with our university relations, local legal and business development teams to secure valuable and strategic IP rights for Siemens, advising on contract, tender, licensing or M&A issues. Develop your IP practice within the UK&I, encouraging the use of IP as a tool for our businesses in their strategy and growth. From protecting their ideas, to enforcing their rights. This role requires a strong willingness to engage with clients and develop new as well as existing portfolios. Engage in a culture where IP is a fundamental part of our innovation and work with different stakeholders, such as sales, business development and engineering to harvest, develop and leverage IP. Work on a variety of digital technologies from all parts of Siemens Core Businesses and counsel on a variety of legal issues including copyright, patents, trade secrets, licensing – no two days are the same. Be part of a diverse global community of IP professionals. What skills and experience will you bring to the role: Qualified as a patent attorney in Europe. Successful in harvesting software and digital inventions, able to draft, prosecute, maintain and counsel on digital innovations. Experienced in working in and influencing cross-functional teams, advising a variety of stakeholders across businesses and technologies, both in-person and remotely. Highly motivated, proactive and keen to develop a role within a dedicated, supportive and friendly team and the wider business. What can we offer?
