Job Responsibilities:

• Establish a close working relationship with our Shanghai R&D department and management and provide clear practical IP advice
• Close cooperation with colleagues from the central Patent Department in Germany
• Conduct infringement analysis of competitor products, conduct patent litigation in cooperation with outside IP law firm
• Monitoring of Chinese Patents, Patent Applications and Utility Models; elaborate strategies for minimizing risks that emanate from potentially critical Patents
• Conduct right-to-use studies; prepare infringement opinions; provide effective guidance with regard to IP risk
• Elaborate filing decisions for Patent Applications based on evaluations of legal, technical and economic aspects
• Manage outside IP law firm, review work of IP law firm and give feedback/instructions

Job Requirements:

• Degree in Engineering (preferably mechanical or electrical engineering) or Physics
• Qualification as Chinese Patent Attorney / Patent Agent or Patent Professional with several years of working experience in a Patent law firm or in-house IP department
• A strong practical knowledge of Chinese Patent Law
• Mandarin native speaker
• Fluency in written and spoken English or German
• High skills in professional usage of general Software and Patent Search Databases
• Excellent communication skills and an ability to interface with colleagues from R&D and Webasto Management in both China and Europe
• Team player, yet self-dependent and proactive way of working
