Project Manager Position Available
The Institute of Public and Environmental Affairs (IPE) is a registered non-profit organization based in Beijing. Since its establishment in May 2006, the IPE has developed a pollution database to promote environmental information disclosure, public participation, and the improvement of environmental governance mechanisms.
The Green Choice Alliance is an Initiative launched by IPE and its NGO partners to encourage major brands to green their global supply chains through responsible procurement based on the environmental performance of their suppliers.
Position: Green Choice Project Manager
Location: Beijing
Reports to: IPE’s Deputy Director
Successful candidates will:
Work with multi-national brands on the IPE’s Green Choice Alliance supply chain program;
Identify issues within the supply chains of multinational companies and work with them to improve the environmental aspects of their supply chain management practices;
Work with colleagues to refine and develop systems to evaluate how well multi-national brands deal with environmental problems in their Chinese supply chains;
Evaluate brands across different industry sectors and communicate these evaluations to the brands and to the public;
Look for and work with overseas partners to promote the Green Choice Project abroad;
Conduct in depth research and investigations into environmental issues in different industry sectors in China;
Research and analyze Chinese environmental regulations and policy and what impact this has on supply chain management;
Speak at conferences both in China and abroad about IPE’s work and the Green Choice supply chain program;
Take part in media interviews to raise awareness of IPE;
Translate and oversee the translation of Chinese content produced by IPE, including website content and reports;
Liaise and co-ordinate with other NGOs and organizations, including international partners;
Draft proposals for funding and joint research projects.
Experience and Qualifications:
Must have at least a bachelor degree in a relevant subject;
At least two years of relevant post-graduation work experience;
Some translation experience would be useful;
Public speaking experience necessary;
Skills:
Fluent in English and advanced level or fluent in Chinese;
Good communication, organizational skills and the ability to work as part of a team;
Good presentation skills;
