Amgen is seeking an IS Specialist Analyst with datacenter, subject matter expert level experience. The scope of this role covers the operations, management, design, relocation, upgrade, and decommissioning of business-critical data centers and voice data equipment rooms and all related supporting technologies. This position will need to partner with internal and 3rd party facilities and engineering representatives, both technical and managerial, to support Amgen’s datacenter strategy. This position is based in the Amgen Dun Laoghaire Manufacturing facility. The candidate will become a member of the regional infrastructure team based in the Amgen Dun Laoghaire site, reporting to the EU Global Infrastructure Services lead. While this position does not have any direct reports, the individual must be able to influence and motivate resources not under direct supervisory control, but also work with local service providers and remote service providers to deliver services.
Responsibilities
- Participate or lead in the design, development, and implementation of data center projects.
- Participate or lead in the delivery of “run” DCOps services.
- Create and maintain performance metrics.
- Provide direction to internal and external consultants.
- Develop, maintain, and update DCOps standards and procedures.
- Participate in project review, design studies, facility audits, building commissioning as required.
- Review and update data center "as-built" documentation as re-configurations occur.
- Create both high-level and detailed space, rack and cabling design diagrams and facilitate design reviews.
- Work with IS teams to understand server and network hardware requirements with respect to power density, rack positioning, cabling, cooling, airflow containment and environmental consideration.
- Help manage relationships with data center vendors and systems integrators.
- Oversee the delivery of supporting MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) services and perform detailed power utilization calculations and optimizations
- Create documentation for the Data Center Operations knowledge base
- Review and Approve operational procedures (Mechanical and Electrical) from the vendors and notify internally of upcoming activities with potential impacts
- Requirements
- Education requirements are a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science or the Life Sciences or equivalent industry experience.
- The successful candidate will have at least 5 years’ experience delivering/operating IS Infrastructure, with a minimum of three (3) years' professional experience in operations and maintenance datacenters.
- This position will be based in the Amgen Dun Laoghaire Facility in Dublin, Ireland.
- Accreditation / experience in at least three of the following technologies and demonstrated knowledge/experience across all technology’s desirable Windows, Linux, Citrix, VMWare, Server Hardware, Cloud, Storage, DCOP’s, Databases, Networking, ITIL, and Project Management.
- Must have knowledge of mission critical power distribution, UPS, PDU, and Mechanical systems and data systems.
- Must have strong cross-discipline knowledge of complete critical facility systems.
- Must have knowledge in data center practices (i.e. fault tolerance, cable routing, calculating power usage).
- Must be an excellent verbal and written communicator, with good presentation skills.
- Must be familiar with Visio software and DCIM tools.
- Must be a strong team player who can collaborate with colleagues on complex tasks and can provide leadership through influence to achieve the required results.
- Must understand best practices related to the design, implementation, and operation of various data center fire suppression technologies.
- Must have strong trouble shooting and analytical skills, and ability to provide solutions to complex projects under pressure.
- Must have the ability to make decisions and work with minimal direction.
- Must have a positive, service-oriented attitude and track record of success.
- Demonstrates knowledge of project management practices and maybe responsible for specific programs and/or projects.
- Must be able to multi-task and stay focused on priorities in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines, including the ability to be comfortable and function effectively in an environment of ambiguity.
- Experience working in a global environment and working in a matrix environment.
- Occasional travel maybe required. Must be able to travel domestically and internationally.
