Job Overview:
Manage Production & Shopfloor Technologies. Support and contribute to the IT-CoC (Center of Competency) “production & shopfloor” in the business unit VAN. Design, implement and support best practices in the field of IT production processes.
Ensure IT production system operations over the complete lifecycle of the IT systems. Drive agile and flexible continuous improvement processes to ensure timely and high quality solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Manages, motivates and develops staff using target agreements and performance appraisals, founded on our mission statement & corporate values, and providing internal communications in order to achieve the agreed objectives.
- Assist with developing a strategy for the overarching organizational unit, and building on this, develop and agree on strategies for implementation.
- Sponsoring of customer relations and organize collaboration taking into consideration the concerns of the different stakeholders.
- Close collaboration with local business relationship specialists to influence the functionality of the global MBV MES.
- Governance for the IT security of production systems (shop floor)
- Responsible for the planning and implementation of projects, optimizations and enhancements that improve the effectiveness and efficiency of Production & Shop Floor IT systems and processes. Must abide by all Daimler and Van Production Center of Competence standards.
- Plan, agree and manage the budget and headcount in accordance with key performance indicators. Monitor compliance with budget targets, introduce and supervise cost-cutting measures where necessary, in liaison with the line manager, and develop an awareness of costs among staff.
- Ensure that local business requirements with regards to the MES are implemented in a cost-effective manner in harmony with the global MBV MES platform.
- Participates in regularly scheduled team meetings
- Will perform other duties as assigned

- Leads employees in line with organizational culture, values and guidelines
- Defines performance goals, conducts performance reviews
- Effectively communicates and engages employees to meet objectives
- Responsible for employee development and qualification
- Manages budget and personnel allocation efficiently.
- Conveys budget distribution and cost saving processes to colleagues.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science or other technical discipline or in comparable studies.
- Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in IT System Development and/or IT Operations.
- Proven expertise and knowledge regarding IT Application Landscapes and IT Infrastructure related to the Production & Shop Floor.
- Collaboration with external partners, suppliers.
- Founded knowledge of Manufacturing-Execution-Systems
- Technical knowledge to develop alternatives to existing solutions and implement improvements to the technical solutions
- Experience in leading projects and teams
- Experience in global collaboration
- Good knowledge of production/manufacturing processes and of external best practices
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Negotiating skills, personal ability to motivate people and to achieve the fulfillment of the local requirements
- Ability to work in interdisciplinary teams.
- Skills for conceptual and strategic development
- IT Application and Technology Architecture (e.g. TOGAF)

Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC (“MBV”) is a plant in Ladson, South Carolina that produces Sprinter vans for the U.S. and Canadian market under the brands Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner. The midsize Mercedes-Benz Metris vans are also reassembled at this location.
Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC invested 500 million U.S. dollars in the construction of a new Sprinter production plant in addition to an expansion of the previous assembly operations. In September 2018, MBV officially opened its new plant, located next to existing operations in the North Charleston area. The MBV facility will provide up to 1,300 jobs by the end of the decade and is expected to create at least 600 additional jobs in the region through its suppliers.
More than 130,000 Sprinters have been assembled in North Charleston and delivered to destinations in the U.S. since 2006. The U.S. is now the second largest market for Sprinter vans, after Germany.
