WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • The IT Supplier Management Office (SMO) drives integration between IT Leadership, IT Operations, Procurement, and contracted Service Providers while ensuring receipt of services in accordance with outsourcing agreements.
  • The SMO optimizes contract, performance, financial, and relationship management processes building a foundation to maximize value, monitor contract compliance, drive continuous improvement and service excellence, resolve issues, and guide the relationship with the providers.
  • The Contract Manager has responsibility for end-to-end contract administration including contract change and interpretation, performance management and oversight of contractual deliverables and obligations.
  • The Contract Manager also guards the commercial relationship and administers commercial and financial arrangements with the Service Providers to include billing, invoicing, performance/penalty adjustments and internal chargebacks where appropriate.
  • This is a highly visible role which requires the resource to influence and partner with senior IT leadership and key Abbott 3rd party providers. The position will be responsible for multiple supplier relationships.

Core Job Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Develops and directs effective relationships with and between strategic (high-spend, high-value and high-dependence) Service Providers and Abbott leadership/key decision makers
  • Develops and maintains governance process frameworks for interactions and integrations with service providers.  Monitors the performance of the agreements and the health of the provider relationships. Drives cost savings and promotes performance optimization
  • Ensures contractual obligations (e.g., commitment dates, milestones, notices, renewals, deliverables) are met. Advises stakeholders on contractual rights/obligations.  Maintains currency of the existing agreement via contract monitoring and change process
  • Drives continuous improvement activities and implementations across functional areas. Executes spend management and cost analysis processes with a focus on cost optimization.
  • Provides escalation support for revenue impacting performance or delivery issues through creation of service provider get well plans, track and support provider escalations to final resolution
  • Supports contract negotiation efforts led by global procurement and ensures supplier agreements comply to IT organizations strategies, policies, and practices

Position Accountability & Scope

The successful candidate for this position will have the following experiences and expertise:

  • Demonstrated history of managing complex supplier relationships, acting as the primary customer interface during all phases of contract performance.  Exposure to legal processes/principles, pricing constructs and commercial best practices - confidentiality, data security and privacy.

Minimum Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with an emphasis on outsourcing and professional services agreements. IT Consulting experience preferred
  • Hands-on experience in executing sourcing strategy, performance analysis and contract management, negotiating favorable commercial terms, developing and managing budget control/pricing models, and maintaining supplier and stakeholder relationships
  • Deep understanding of the financial aspects of contracts such as rate structures and pricing strategies
  • Exceptional people skills, exhibiting the ability to work comfortably with individuals at all levels.  Excellent oral and written communication skills with an ability to effectively collaborate and coordinate. Demonstrated diplomacy and effectiveness when working in a matrix environment.  Executive presence. Highly organized, self-motivated and directed
  • Multi-faceted approach to relationship management to include a broad range of communication and problem-solving skills (accommodation, flexibility, support, understanding and more)
  • Experience in packaging high-quality documents with a meticulous attention to detail
  • Clear thinker who anticipates and develops strategies for anticipated future consequences and trends. Ability to perform in a fast-paced, goal-oriented, and time-sensitive environment
  • Develops innovative or creative process improvements and solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to perform in alignment with key IT principles:  Transparency, delivering value, keeping things simple, Enabling People, Predicting/Preventing issues, Insisting on Compliance

Minimum Education:

  • University degree in business, law, computer science, supply chain, or equivalent; advanced degree beneficial

Tools/Technology Requirements:

  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • MS Excel and MS Power Point super user
