RWS is undertaking a Monitoring System  consolidation project

The primary activity for this role is to roll out the new monitoring  platform based on the PRTG platform.
 
The monitoring  specialist will have a passion for technology and will be seen as someone who innovates and leads with authority to maintain a highly functional, stable and reliable working environment for our user base.

The candidate will require strong PRTG skills and an in-depth understanding Multi site global monitoring system implementation

Technology and Principles


- Strong PRTG Skills and deployment experience to a mulit site global platform supporting 1000’s of virtual  and physical servers.
- Strong attention to detail to evaluate implementation activities for accuracy and errors.
- Strong Windows server background with solid experience in Microsoft  AD.
- A Focus on minimising admin and repeat processes through automation.
- Strong scripting knowledge with an aptitude for basic programming logic (PowerShell, Python).
- Adhere to the development and release principles, setting standards for build quality, versioning, documentation, testing and release strategy of migration tools.
- The ability to problem-solve under pressure and in complex situations
- The ability to clearly communicate with team members
- Excellent time management skills and a goal-oriented personality
- A strong understanding of data protection and data governance
- Strong Knowledge of Azure cloud service, specifically cloud storage technologies

  


Main Duties

1. Responsible to the roll out of PRTG monitoring solution  to SDL servers estate
2. Develop an implement a monitoring strategy using industry best practices
3. Develop and maintain tools and scripts to automate the monitoring and alerting
4. Document, publish and maintain key information relating to data migration toos, migration processes and architecture; 
5. Agree timetables and outage windows for data availability with key stakeholders
6. Continually review and improve upon the monitoring  processes by engaging with key stakeholders to discuss issues/concerns relating to service\system function. Take ownership of any related issues and work to manage the improvement process.     
7. Develop and adhere to appropriate standards and security policies to ensure risks associated with information and IT assets are minimalised.  
8. Provide support, direction, guidance and training to the global IT Support function as required.
