The Privacy and Data Protection Manager will work within the Trust, Risk Assurance and Compliance to improve and develop operational Privacy processes and data governance best practices that will be used by Booking.com teams. They will provide data governance and Privacy risk management advice to the network of Privacy Champions and support the Privacy Operations team and Booking.com DPO with their duties.

B. Responsible

  • Design and develop processes and policies around the retention and deletion of personal information and other categories of data types and records.
  • Provide specialist data governance advice to the network of Privacy Champions.
  • Design and develop core Privacy processes (e.g. Inventory maintenance, data subject handling and Privacy incident processes) and ensure these are applied consistently across the different business units and functions.
  • Work closely with the Chief Privacy Officer (CPO) and Data Protection Officer (DPO) to develop guidance on how to operate Privacy processes.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of Privacy technology to support the operation of Privacy processes.

Management

  • May coordinate the day-to-day activities of contractors and consultants.

Project Involvement

  • Designs, develops and oversees the implementation of Privacy processes and technologies across the company.

B. skilled

  • Possessing a minimum of 5 to 8 years of experience in a global large scale corporate international environment in a role involving privacy, data protection, information security or digital compliance or similar experience.
  • Knowledge above and beyond GDPR (CCPA, China, Russia, or India Privacy regulations)
  • Knowledge of industry privacy frameworks (NIST privacy framework)
  • Have a detailed understanding of the privacy and data governance technologies and tools that are available in the market
  • Have a detailed understanding of data governance best practices regarding the collection, use, storage, sharing and destruction of personal information
  • Understand compliance practices, and specifically, the activities, that allow to understand an organisation compliance requirements and demonstrate that those requirements are being met
  • Being able to organise and facilitate governance and compliance committees and action the outputs from these committees
  • Adaptable: Open to new ideas, is a “quick-read” for changing situations and balances long-term view with short-term actions.
  • Humble yet confident, with high self-awareness.
  • Analytical with the ability to “think big” and simultaneously understand and appreciate the details necessary to operationalize the privacy strategy and goals; 
  • The ability to make sense of complex issues and ambiguous situations.
  • Self-starter with high energy and drive, fast paced and results driven; forward thinking.
  • Proactive, with the ability to quickly respond to issues at hand; able to prioritize effectively.
  • First class communication skills – verbal, written and listening.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
