Job Description

The Project Manager (PM) oversees medium to large projects, or in some cases multiple small to medium projects, typically at the Division level. Project management responsibilities include the coordination and completion of projects on time within budget and within scope. Oversee all aspects of projects. Set deadlines, assign responsibilities and monitor and summarize progress of project. Prepare and present reports for senior management and steering committees regarding the status and health of the project(s).

The successful candidate will work directly with Division-level, and in some cases Group level management to ensure deliverables fall within the applicable scope and budget. He or she will coordinate with other departments (e.g. Shared Services functions) to ensure all aspects of each project are aligned to the appropriate functional strategy.

A bachelor's degree and 5+ years of experience in Information Technology in the healthcare industry, or in a related area. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices and procedures such as GxP and Systems Validation. Rely on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Perform a variety of tasks. Lead and direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and self-starting mindset is expected. Reports directly to either an IT Program Manager, or the IT PMO Director depending on size and complexity of the project(s) being managed. The PM augments project work to enhance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add and strengthen the value delivered by the IT PMO .

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects
  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
  • Facilitate the definition of scope/objectives involving relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
  • Ensure resource availability, allocation; develop a detailed project plan, and monitor progress
  • Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs using appropriate verification and governance techniques
  • Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques
  • Report and escalate to management as needed
  • Manage the relationship with the client and all stakeholders
  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks
  • Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
  • Where applicable, meet with customers to understand specific requirements of each project
  • Delegate project tasks based on team members’ strengths, skill sets and experience levels
  • Track project performance to analyze the successful completion of short and long-term goals
  • Meet budgetary objectives and adjust project constraints based on financial analysis
  • Develop comprehensive project plans to be shared with clients as well as other staff members
  • Use and continually develop leadership skills
  • Attend conferences and training as required to maintain proficiency
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Develop spreadsheets, diagrams and process maps to document needs
  • Assist in project financial management across the entire portfolio and coordinate with several finance organizations to accurately reflect forecast and actuals.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or relevant field
  • 5+ years work experience in healthcare (e.g. Biotech, Pharma, Medical Equipment, etc.)
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) and/or AGILE/SCRUM certification is a plus
  • Proven working experience in project management
  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • CPA or similar certification desired, but not required
