Purpose of the Position:

Execute the plant strategy and achieve desired business results, primarily through appropriate allocation of IT resources and capabilities. Build and reinforce a positive work environment so that the business unit operates in support of Corning’s Values. Represent all aspects of IT at the site including IT performance and execution with alignment to divisional and corporate wide IT strategies. This is a technical manager role and requires a mix of both business as well as technical skills.


Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Monitor unit compliance with IT and HR-related legal and regulatory guidelines.
  • Coordinate with global IT organization to leverage technical resources in order to deliver solutions and services effectively.
  • Align IT business processes to global Corning business processes.
  • Achieve or exceed the IT budgetary objectives in support of plant financial goals while maintaining appropriate levels of IT service delivery.
  • Deliver projects on time, in scope, and on budget through project prioritization and effective resource management.
  • Establish and maintain the appropriate levels of operational support against established metrics.
  • Identify talent requirements, gaps, and requisite actions in conjunction with management and HR.
  • Recruit and develop key IT talent according to HR policies and procedures.
  • Effectively support the IT shared service delivery model.
  • Collaborate closely with the Division IT Manager to understand and implement programs that drive standardization across the division while ensuring plant business needs are met.
  • Interact with customer base to function as the voice of the plant to the IT organization to ensure the type and level of services provided fully support the achievement of plant business objectives.
  • Utilize strong communication skills to interact with and educate plant customers in the development and implementation of required programs and processes.
  • Establish presence and trust on the plant floor to maintain an ongoing pulse of the organization.
  • Lead the organization in the application of performance excellence to improve service and quality to customers.
  • Establish and drive plant IT project portfolio and manage its alignment to organizational objectives.
  • Provide accurate reporting and systems status data to leadership to enable timely and decisive decision making.

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field.

3 – 5 years of Information Technology related experience.

Experience in operational support


Required Skills

Computer hardware, software and network maintenance and management

Project Management

Budget planning and management

Experience with relational databases and reporting

A mix of both technical troubleshooting skills as well as management skills

Experience in a plant environment

Supervisory experience

Experience with Microsoft SQL Reporting, Integration and Analysis services
