What You Will Do:

Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Information Technology department is seeking an IT Software Developer with a DevOps mindset to support our MES (Manufacturing Execution System) software and processes. The individual will plan, design, and/or implement efficient new functionality and automation solutions for our MES and tools applications to optimize IT operations and provide support for Operations software and processes.

This role works closely with the MES IT teams and stakeholders across various sites and with other IT teams as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and enhance software systems and software development processes for our Manufacturing Execution System, utilizing .Net and other development platforms
  • Identify opportunities and implement changes to existing MES systems to reduce support demands from the manufacturing teams
  • Partner with developers to optimize workflows and improve the cadence and quality of releases
  • Contribute to the development of tools to improve the efficiency of MES development, deployment, and support
  • Contribute to build automation and Continuous Integration/Deployment for MES and tools applications
  • Act as a champion, change agent, and mentor to bring new technologies, techniques and principles for software engineering excellence


Education

  • BS in Computer Science or similar degree

How You Will Get Here:

  • 3+ years in experience in Web and/or desktop application development using .net or similar framework
  • Strong experience troubleshooting custom applications and providing development support in legacy development environments
  • Experience with CI/CD tools and services (Git, Jenkins, CodePipeline, or similar)
  • Strong understanding of scripting for CI/CD (C#, Java, Python, or PowerShell)
  • Knowledge of cloud architecture using AWS or Azure

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of SDLC (preferably Iterative/Agile methodology)
  • Solid experience with object-oriented concepts
  • Understanding of Oracle SQL, MS SQL Server, or MySQL scripting
  • Experience with Camstar MES Development, Modeling, and API is a plus
  • Experience with ColdFusion, Oracle Forms, and/or ASP is a plus
  • Understanding of cloud automation toolsets such as CloudFormation, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy, and AWS Systems Manager
  • Experience with orchestration services (Ansible, Chef, Puppet, CloudFormation, etc.)
  • Exposure to ITIL incident & change management
  • Life Science industry background / knowledge of molecular biology, chemistry, and/or biology
