ABB is seeking a Indirect Tax Analyst for its Cary, North Carolina location. This role is responsible to provide full tax support to multiple ABB businesses for indirect tax (sales/use, personal property, and other business tax) filings and audits. Support the businesses while timely and accurately complying with state/local government tax requirements.Review and maintain ABB’s customer exemption certificate database. Prepare reconciliations of multi-entity tax-related general ledger accounts in compliance with SOX requirements. Challenge existing processes and recommend/support necessary improvements to existing processes relevant to the Indirect Tax function.
Your responsibilities
- State and local sales and use, personal property tax compliance, business license returns, annual reports filings.
- Assist with state and local tax audits.
- Keep exemption certificate database current and accurate.
- Comply with strict filing deadlines and maintain a work schedule to meet all deadlines.
- Provide support including tax research for business partners.
- Prepare tax account reconciliations.
- Support unclaimed property/escheatment process as needed.
Your background
- Four year degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
- Prefer one or more year in indirect taxes or in a corporate/consulting finance role. We will consider recent college graduates with internships or other work experience.
- Proficient knowledge of MS Office tools (Excel, Word, Access).
- Analytical / reconciliation skills considered a plus.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Comfortable dealing with both internal and external customers.
- Flexible working independently as well as in a team environment.
- Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and remain responsive to internal/external inquiries.
- Sales and/or Personal Property Tax experience a plus.
- Experience with SAP and/or Vertex a plus.
