Job Description
Siemens is creating its first UK based Rail Industry Hub on the outskirts of Goole in the East Riding of Yorkshire. With an initial contract to assemble nearly 50 trains to service the Piccadilly line on the London Underground we are starting to recruit up to 300 skilled technical and support colleagues at in our Manufacturing Facility. In the near future follow-on work is expected to bring this number of trains into the hundreds, along with an expansion on the site into maintenance and overhaul activities displaying a long-term commitment to the area and growth in employment and career opportunities. We are looking for 2x Electrical and Mechanical Industrial Engineers to join us in these first key roles for the Goole facility. You will drive continuous improvement topics and analyse and design work systems to support general adherence to agreed standards and to ensure humanely and economical production. This is a critical position for the project with respect to new plant and process set up in Goole as well as managing transfer of technology from Vienna, therefore you will be expected to spend 3 months in Vienna from December 2023 and travel regularly (locally within the UK and internationally) as needed. This is your role: Plan equipment layout, workflow, accidental prevention measures, and the respective processes and guidelines of production Contribute to budget development, ensure adherence to agreed budgets in Industrial Engineering Plan, propose and implement improvements projects on site or unit level, set the respective targets, budgets and personnel resources, and steer the overall project process Work with other engineering functions or external vendors or service providers, and constantly monitor and approve respective services and work deliveries Perform P-FMEA & VSM and Qualification of people and processes for special processes (Crimping / Bonding & Torquing) Manage overall ramp-up phase of new production and test equipment, or production launch of new products including transfer of technology and ensure life cycle support With over 300,000 employees Siemens is a global market leader in engineering and within the Rail Industry, involved in manufacturing, maintenance and rail network infrastructure, bringing innovation across all our platforms, we are changing the way people travel.
