BSI EHS Services and Solutions is seeking an experienced Industrial Hygienist/Safety Associate to be based out of Reston, VA with travel to client sites. 

This position requires Anticipation, Recognition, Evaluation, Prevention and Control of conditions which could result in illness, impaired health, or significant discomfort in the workplace.

The ideal candidate performs survey work to identify and evaluate hazardous and nonhazardous work operations and conditions and recommends corrective procedures where there is a potential for injury to exist. The individual participates as a member of a team led by or overseen by a more senior colleagues, conducting a limited segment of a major inspection or assessment.

About You

Required Qualifications: 

• BA/BS in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health or related Industrial Hygiene/Occupational Health discipline.
• Minimum 3 years independently performing Industrial Hygiene Risk Assessments, Exposure Monitoring, and Investigations, Suggesting and Establishing Exposure Controls, Utilizing and Maintaining IH Sampling and Analysis Equipment, Completing Technical Reports, and Maintaining Legal Documentation for all IH Related Activities.
• US Citizen (Homeland Security Requirement)
• Ability to work as part of a team, involving them as part of the decision making for risk reduction activities
• Strong Technical Writing Capabilities
• Ability to Multitask, Track Projects, and Successfully Follow Up on Open Tasks
• Ability to Take Direction/Follow Direction/Be Trusted to Work Independently
• Strong Communication Skills
• Strong Investigation Skills with Significant Experience
• Ability to wear a respirator and protective clothing, climb a ladder, and lift and carry up to 40 pounds, occasionally
• Ability to visually inspect work areas, assess conditions of use, and use Industrial Hygiene related sampling equipment

Preferred Qualifications:

• Training on and experience with chemical Potent Compounds
• Experience designing and troubleshooting exposure control systems (fume hoods, gloveboxes, BSCs, and other)
• Strong Customer Service Skills
• Experience in pharmaceutical, industrial, petrochemical environments
• Experience Teaching or Speaking to a Large Group
• Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or multiple years’ experience managing an Industrial Hygiene Program
