Job Description

Microsoft’s Tech for Social Impact is a full industry vertical team that works directly with nonprofits and the United Nations. The team brings together the company’s donation and grants programs, commercial sales efforts, partner ecosystem programs, and technology solutions to empower nonprofits globally to address the world’s most pressing needs. The Strategy and Solutions team within Tech for Social Impact leads cloud strategy, go-to-market planning, and solution delivery working with nonprofits and the United Nations to maximize their social impact through the power of Microsoft platforms. We are a mission-driven organization that balances social impact with the need to maintain a sustainable business model for how Microsoft scales digital transformation across the nonprofit sector; and are looking for a passionate, motivated, technically sound individual to lead delivery of Azure solutions that will help our nonprofit customers be more efficient, more effective, and deliver greater impact.

Responsibilities

As an Industry Technology Strategist (ITS), you will help nonprofits amplify their impact by delivering purpose-built solutions using Microsoft’s clouds. This role specifically leads Azure solutions that leverage data & AI workloads to create scaled solutions across the nonprofit sector, along with partnering across the team to position standard Azure infrastructure solutions relevant to nonprofit use cases. Our goal is to create a healthy foundation of Azure infrastructure and increase our mix of advanced workloads. We envision solutions that leverage new architecture and common data models available across Dynamics 365, Office 365, PowerBI, and Azure to empower every aspect of nonprofit operations and mission delivery. To that end, you will work directly with other ITS leads for Business Applications and Modern Workplace, and as part of a broader team that includes Industry Solutions Executives who lead our cloud strategy. You’ll work across Microsoft, directly with customers, and with external partners to define product requirements, deliver solutions, define post-launch activities, and lend support for both business case development and go-to-market planning. We are a fast paced, customer focused team within a dynamic environment.

The Industry Technology Strategist (Azure) is expected to:
• Drive the deployment of industry solutions based on Azure that increase consumption of the platform, result in a higher mix of advanced workloads, and achieve scaled social impact
• Partner closely with the Industry Solutions Executive (Azure BG lead) to support development of cloud adoption plans, launch plans, and achievement of key performance indicators
• Understand nonprofit sector business requirements, challenge assumptions to motivate change, identify, validate, and grow opportunities in partnership with the sales team, for deployment of Microsoft and/or 3rd party cloud industry solutions that deliver tangible value to customers
• Lead mapping of business goals/nonprofit scenarios and requirements to Azure-based architecture and technology solutions
• Establish deep relationships with key nonprofit customers to create better informed solution strategies
• Foster relationships with key partners to aid in the development of industry solutions
• Keep up to date with market trends in the nonprofit sector, competitive insights and industry regulatory/compliance
• Coach other technical sellers on Microsoft’s nonprofit offerings and represent our solutions to customers and on stage

Qualifications

Required – Bachelor’s Degree
• 5+ years of experience implementing and deploying complex, business critical industry solutions and/or experience in one or more industry functional area supporting cloud adoption
• 5+ years of success in consultative/complex technical sales and/or industry deployment projects
• 5+ years of architecture, design, implementation, and/or support of highly distributed applications
• Deep technical experience in one or more of the following areas: Software design or development, Application Design, Systems Operations / Management, Database architecture, Virtualization, IP Networking, Storage, IT Security, Linux, HPC
• Working knowledge of the following programming languages: .NET, C++, Java, JSON, PHP, Perl, Python, Ruby on Rails, Pig/Hive
• Proven track record of building deep technical relationships with senior executives that led to growing cloud consumption share in large or highly strategic accounts
• Presentation skills with a high degree of comfort with both large and small audiences. Prior work experience in a Consulting/Architecture position within a software and/or services company
