Job Description

Department / Section : Learning Commons & Digital Innovation

Major Duties:
(a) In collaboration with the Information Technology Services Division (ITSD), to design and document the LAN or telecommunications infrastructure of THEi campuses, and oversee the configuration, testing and installation of equipment;
(b) In collaboration with the ITSD, to design specifications for the WAN services, manage the procurement of hardware, and oversee the configuration, testing and installation of equipment;
(c) To coordinate, oversee the installation and maintenance of server farms, IP phone system, IP camera system for security surveillance, audio visual system and Wi-Fi access at campuses;
(d) To arrange and coordinate the commissioning of the computer laboratories and oversee equipment configuration, testing and installation;
(e) To assist in the development of IT infrastructure of educational support in higher education; and
(f) To assist in the evaluation of vendors and service contracts.

Requirements:
(a) A recognised degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronics or relevant fields, or equivalent qualification;
(b) At least 2 years’ relevant work experience, preferably with relevant experience in computing field in educational institutions or comparable organisations;
(c) Solid experience in IT project management;
(d) Proven records in network design and implementation, enterprise infrastructure, data network and IP phone system;
(e) Good communication, inter-personal, organisational and administrative skills;
(f) Ability to work independently and be pro-active;
(g) Good command of spoken and written English and Chinese, preferably including Putonghua; and
(h) Applicants with good knowledge and hands-on experience in network administration (Cisco or Ruckus Wi-Fi solution), system administration (MS Windows), VMware, VDI implementation, and/or Application System Development would have an advantage.

Notes:
(1) The post is in the rank of Officer.
(2) The appointee may be required to perform duties at different sites and work irregular hours, shifts and on Saturdays and Sundays.
(3) The remuneration package will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
