Job Description

Overview of the position: 
At its heart, RWS is a global technology business.  The business of ‘Translation’ (or more accurately ‘Localisation’) and Content Management requires complex but highly secure and efficient infrastructures for the management, storage, global distribution and transformation of multiple file types on a massive scale.  The RWS workforce is located across 40 countries, and a reliable but flexible global infrastructure is essential to enable the extensive business transformation programme which RWS is currently undertaking. 
The Infrastructure Manager role is a new position and has been created to manage a global team of domain experts.  The role will manage teams responsible for the datacentres, on-premise servers, Cloud computers and End User computers across the RWS group.

Role/Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

* Design and execute short and long-term strategic plans to assure infrastructure capacity attains current and future needs.
* Develop, execute and oversee procedures and governance policies. 
* Manage IT Disaster Recovery Strategy for organisation.
* Define software and hardware standards in collaboration with stakeholders and owners.
* Report and prepare strategies to maintain server infrastructure.
* Ensure security levels on infrastructure and servers are maintained.
* Oversee operational costs, ensuring alignment with short and long-term financial estimates.
* Effectively manage people by building a high-quality working relationship and providing a blend of support, development and performance management.
* Proactive management of people, ensuring that all the required processes, including induction, appraisals and ongoing 1:1s are in place across the teams
* Effectively recruit and select staff in line with RWS’s recruitment and selection processes.
* Effectively manage business performance by planning, co-ordinating, delivering, evaluating and communicating.
*  Actively learn and develop to stay up to date with technologies in areas of expertise and to meet the evolving needs of the role.

Qualifications & Pre-Requisites:
* Applicants will be educated to degree standard
* Experience in managing multi-disciplinary teams, ideally, experience in managing global teams
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
* Understanding of ITIL

Skills – Essential:
* Proven and relevant working experience in a Senior Infrastructure or similar role.
* Demonstrable  working knowledge in several the following technologies 
o Windows Servers
o Microsoft Azure 
o Microsoft 365
o AWS
o Vmware
o VEEAM
o Netapp
o Citrix/VDI
o SCCM
o Intune
o Networking
o Security tooling AV and Managed detection and response software
* Managing the security and patching best practices across a EUC,  on-premises and cloud environment
* Experience of managing and working closely with 3rd party suppliers
