Job Description
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Directs the development and implementation of the Customer Requirements and the quality control programs and contributes to EAG Quality Management System enhancements for those new products that are being introduced to the business. Primary focus is support Quality group, including significant travel with on-site support of Tijuana and entire BU supply base for the transitions projects. Ensures that policies and procedures regarding all aspects of quality assurance and continuous improvement are rigidly adhered to during all design and manufacturing processes, including supplier quality when the Quality Review is being performed in all the stages of PROLaunch Methodology. Coordinates the PPAP approach with the new products being transferred to the plant Represents the quality function throughout the PROLaunch design process ensuring compliance to the process, being a knowledge asset of key tools (Six Sigma, DOE, FMEA), and ensuring compliance to Aerospace regulatory and customer requirements. Develop and implement plans to achieve operation and group quality goals. Ensure compliance to customer quality requirements and acts as principle contact for customer on quality issues. Manage inspection, corrective action, SPC, Returned Materials, internal audit activity, CRR, Customer 360, and other documentation issues as needed for the operations. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Ensures that process needed for the quality management system are established, implemented, and maintained within the parent site and Tijuana, Mexico plants. Establishes objectives, policies, and procedures for the Tijuana quality control activities. Ensure the promotion, awareness and deployment of internal, customer, and regulatory requirements throughout the EAG organization, including deployment of Eaton Business tools to improve business effectiveness (EQS, ELSS, WISPER, MESH, QLI’s, Quality Best Practices, PROLaunch, etc). Manage all quality-related issues within the manufacturing team (e.g. internal, supplier, customer and customer warranty) for the new transitions. Identify root cause and instigate permanent corrective actions for product quality issues related to the new products. Work with internal and external stakeholders to resolve quality issues that arise as quickly and efficiently as possible to prevent compromising quality and safety standards before this product is moved to the normal production. Ensure control plans and associated documentation are implemented effectively and maintained for transitions. Monitor and report on quality-related key performance indicators including scrap monitoring, rework levels, DPPM, for new introduction of product (NPD and Transitions) Stop production in the event of manufacture of unacceptable goods/processes Assist with training of quality awareness Coordinate the plan for PPAP implementation for the new transitions. Assist with first off sample approval (FAIR/PPAP) Attend Transition-Customer meetings and action/communicate instructions The Sr. Transitions Quality Engineer assists in directing and controlling processes in accordance with the company and customer’s defined policies and procedures. Analyze problems and implement solutions using critical thinking skills and focused improvement methods. Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems Incorporate creative thinking into the problem-solving approach to identify unique and different ways to make things better/more consistent/faster/cheaper/efficient. Review and manage process controls and metrics to define and document process control. Participate in cross-functional teams in the development of new products or changes related to current products in meeting customer requirements. #LI-SL4 Qualifications SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE: Bachelor's degree in a technical area. Strong 5 years of experience Strong communication skills Excellent management skills of English Knowledge of Aerospace Regulatory Environment, NADCAP processes and AS9100 Advanced Knowledge of the Eaton PROLaunch NPD and STP Process as well as DFSS ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (or European Equiv.) Experience in the Quality Engineering environment. Strong knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) Lean Manufacturing knowledge Understanding of engineering drawings and manufacturing processes Ability to work in a diverse and dynamic environment Planning and prioritizing activities Good communication and interpersonal skills Negotiation skills Ability to present data effectively Problem-solving skills Team working skills Analytical skills Understanding of cost and financial impacts ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Incumbent must be effective leader with exceptional personnel skills.
