Job Description
The Manufacturing Engineer will focus on driving operational excellence through process improvements and factory automation. In this role, you will provide day-to-day support to the manufacturing team as well as to longer-term strategic planning and project management. You will be called upon to research and identify process and automation improvements and to prioritize department opportunities. This position will also lead capacity and capital equipment analysis, vendor selection, and manufacturing development. The role has a heavy focus on reducing waste, cost & inefficiencies while creating standards to increasing value. '-Ensures all activities are performed in accordance with Environmental Health and Safety System in relation to the overall production process, machine specifications, and operator ergonomics. -Integrate equipment and systems by using Industry 4.0 methodologies (Automation, Simulation and Systems Integration) -Provide technical expertise to support manufacturing activities and projects in order to meet established goals for safety, quality, cost and production. -Follow-Up and takes action to mantain and improve key performance indicators such as Yield, Scrap, Productivity and Manufacturing Efficiency. -Uses statistical techniques to facilitate decision making based on available data related to manufacturing processes and products. -Understands product cost components and its interactions, (direct & indirect material costs, labor, overhead). -Cooperates with OPEX Coordinator to support Lean and CI activities, such as value stream mapping, setup time reduction, waste reduction and error proofing. -Cooperates with NPI & Product Engineers to support transition from project to operations through training operators, quality control technicians, front-line leaders, and management on improved process techniques and new manufacturing concepts. -Prepare, submit and follow up capital appropriation requests (CAR) for new and replacement equipment, track and report on project spending. -Has direct relation with vendors to define equipment suitability. -Collaborates with Maintenance Supervisor and Production Manager to analyze equipment data, trends, and performance to assure correct lifecycle management, identify and mitigates risks associated to equipment technical knowledge, spares availability and external technical service. -Evaluates the financial, process or quality impact, derived from product & process changes. -Has clear criteria of conforming/ non conforming product and the test methods used for verifying conformance. -Understands and drives improvements on activities related to manufacturing systems such as Routing & BOM's maintenance and implementation. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Electromechanical or Mechanical Engineering. Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering with experience in Manufacturing. Minimum 3 years of experience in manufacturing environments. Knowledge of SPC (Statistical Process Control), Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and ISO9001. Knowledge of Office 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook) tools is a must. Experience with MS PowerBI & MS PowerApps is a plus. Experience with Minitab or SPC tools for manufacturing environments is a plus. Advanced English communication skills "Interpersonal skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams are a must. Self-starter and self-learner. Critical thinking and decision making."
