Laboratory Products Division – Controlled Temperatures / Asheville NC
How will you make an impact?
This role will be part of the R&D Product Development team to work on new technology introduction to cold storage products and focus mostly on thermal/refrigeration systems.
What will you do?
• Develop refrigeration systems for cold storage products including -86C Cascade, -150C Auto Cascade & Conventional systems ranging from 4C to -40C.
• Analyze thermal behavior of refrigeration systems to include heat & mass transfer mechanism, fluid flow, and phase change by use of predictive thermal modeling for component selections and refrigeration system designs.
• Develop specifications for system, sub-system, and component thermal performances.
• Develop and execute test plans to validate the performances of newly developed refrigeration systems.
• Collaborate with R&D engineers in NPD teams and third-party partners for product developments and new technology introductions.
• Develop refrigeration systems to achieve the highest quality and long-term reliability while at the same time providing environmental-friendly product designs and meeting regulatory and certification requirements from FDA, UL, CE, CSA, NMPA, etc.
• Design refrigeration systems for manufacturability at various manufacturing locations around the world and for ease of service.
• Design refrigeration systems that meet customer requirements, time to market commitments and the target cost of the projects.
• Work effectively with global cross-functional teams during all phases of the Innovation/NPD Processes
• Up to 10% travel may be required.
How will you get here?
Education
BS in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical engineering, Physics or related technical degree with course work in thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics. Preferred: Master or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical engineering, Physics or related technical degree with courses of two-phase flow and phase change heat transfer.
Experience
• Minimum 0-2 years of working experience.
• Strong analytical skills for thermal system modeling and design.
• Strong analytical skills to analyze empirical data for the thermal system.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
• Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Sense of ownership & urgency with projects and work assignments.
• Willingness and ability to work in a cross-functional team environment.
