Microsoft Advertising is a worldwide sales, marketing and services organization on the cutting edge of the digital advertising industry. We are the engine that powers the buying and selling of digital advertising across all aspects of our digital portfolio including our high-growth search engine, Bing. We empower advertisers around the world to reach their maximum potential through paid search engine marketing (SEM) on the Microsoft Advertising network.

 

This role is part of an exciting new team that is the growth engine for Microsoft Advertising. By joining a newly formed team, this is an opportunity to innovate and lead, while to enabling our clients to thrive. The Client Growth Manager leads a team who influences key small-to-medium (SMB) clients through at-scale client engagement and revenue attainment. You will engage in deep partnership across the SMB team through matrixed partnerships to ensure global consistency with best practice sharing. This role has equal parts at-scale sales management and program management – leading and managing the day to day team execution and facilitating the execution of strategic and tactical initiatives. Success in this role is measured by team feedback, quota attainment and at-scale delivery against scorecard targets.

 

As a team leader, this individual will also demonstrate strong leadership that provides clarity to the team, generates and maintains positive and productive team, energy and can consistently deliver success through the team.

Responsibilities

Core Responsiblities

  • Be the voice of the SMB Client internally
    • Represent the voice of the SMB Client to internal teams to ensure alignment between client needs and stakeholder initiatives.
    • Drive for global consistency through best practice sharing and joint strategic planning
    • Identify and surface internal and external blockers; gather, build and surface requirements to overcome those blockers
  • Make SMB a core growth engine for Microsoft Advertising through revenue performance
    • Meet/exceed SMB revenue goals, prioritize high value opportunities and actively seek ways to reduce waste.
    • Partner with peers, SMB Revenue analyst, Marketing, Support, Operations and Insights to drive outbound revenue initiatives based on high opportunity verticals or segments
    • Leverage demand initiatives, primarily driven through UCM, to drive adoption of features and products that help clients participate in our marketplace more effectively.
    • Partner closely with marketing to drive inbound initiatives
    • Responsible for Regional SMB KPIs and report to leadership team 
  • Effectively drive day to day team level execution
    • Build innovation thinking into execution approach of the sales model
    • Ensure team meets or exceeds targets.
    • Drive consistent improvement to the overall quality and execution of service.
    • Build strength and scale in how the sales motion is executed; make it easy to sell Bing and Microsoft, to adopt our technologies, and to share the Microsoft and Bing story at scale.
    • Strengthen client/agency relationships and enable agencies to drive Bing adoption and value at scale
    • Promote hiring best practices which optimize for diversity.
    • Attract, grow and retain talent base as #1 organizational asset.
    • Foster and enrich a healthy work environment and ensure all employees understand Microsoft strategies and values
    • Maintain a pipeline of top talent and continuously develop talent within the team.  
  • Own the SMB Growth sales motion
    • Partner with regional leads, marketing, support, operations and Insights to build a holistic business strategy and drive an effective and connected customer experience
    • Partner with the WW Operations SMB Strategy lead to ensure the client growth strategy is connected to the larger SMB strategy
    • Identify potential big bets to unlock revenue and improve operational performance
    • Identify and surface internal and external threats across SMB

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrates customer obsession, a passion for innovation and best-practice sharing, all while showing the ability to consistently deliver exceptional results.
  • Proven track record of exceptional performance as measured against revenue, customer satisfaction, and business/organizational health metrics
  • Demonstrated capability to manage and coach high performing teams, and drive excellent partner experiences in market or virtually
  • Strong planning skills and ability to pivot into deep execution when needed
  • Previous experience in managing partnerships, channel programs
  • Strong communicator with demonstrated success in clearly and persuasively communicating complex or sensitive business issues to senior management
  • Exceptional decision-making, critical thinking, and process improvement ability
  • Thrives on an ambiguous, fast-paced environment
  • 5-9 years of experience across sales, service, business development and/or marketing in an online services environment
  • 3-5 years of direct sales or business development

Preferred Qualification:

  • Strong quantitative analysis skills
  • Search or performance media expertise
  • People management experience
