Job Description

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Integrated Pest Management Associate, are to: 

 

  • Collaborate with project team members to deliver detailed IPM protocols that enable the growth of high-quality plant material to aid the advancement decisions by our breeders and scientists;
  • Advance the knowledge of IPM for the Woodland site by staying abreast of new technologies, processes and procedures;
  • Manage inventory of all IPM products and supplies as to ensure their availability in a timely manner;
  • Operate research equipment, applicators, note taking, data management with internal IT systems;
  • Comply with regulated seed stewardship standards, County and State reporting regulations, phytosanitary rules and complete and/or participate in safety inspections/training and comply with all policies and standard operating procedures;
  • Be able to work extended hours during peak seasons.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • B.S. in Horticulture, Agronomy or related field with at least two years of crop management, either in open field or in in a greenhouse environment OR M.S. with work experience;
  • Valid driver’s license;
  • Be able to lift up to 60 lbs.;
  • Hold a current State of CA issued QAL applicators license;
  • Be able to work extended hours during peak operational seasons;
  • Knowledge of IPM using state of the art processes and procedures;
  • Work in a cross functional team providing necessary support and expertise.

 

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Knowledge and experience with agricultural equipment, greenhouse and row crop production practices and history of leveraging that knowledge in a research environment;
  • Demonstrated experience working in a collaborative team-based environment;
  • Experience with both standard MS Office computer and software systems used in scientific data analysis, with ability to quickly learn new software programs and tools.
