We are currently seeking a Web Developer Support (German speaking) to join our Global Professional Services organization - the successful candidate will be part of the Inside Sales Integration Team as first point of contact for web developers who are integrating any of the PayPal website payments solutions into e-commerce websites and other applications

Job Description Summary

The Inside Sales Web Developer Support maintains a specific focus on the last mile of sales process and provides technical integration services including code-level support to Merchants or their developers which have been acquired through the Inside Sales pipeline, and to existing Merchants in the Customer Success portfolio.

They are responsible for initial integration of the right PayPal product for the website, app or software, and will work with newly-acquired merchants to ensure that they are fully aware of product and service features to ensure optimal integration of PayPal into their web sites. The position is designed to provide a smooth transition from the sales acquisition process and for converting the integration to a transactional and live state.

The successful candidate will have excellent web development experience, with a strong understanding of associated trends and technologies. A passion for internet-based business concepts, and an inquisitive and analytical nature will help drive the candidate to be best-in-class at supporting the PayPal merchant customers by acquiring an in-depth understanding of the PayPal product and e-commerce in general.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate their web development skill through a portfolio of work, utilizing third-party platforms (eg. Prestashop, Magento, WooCommerce etc.) as well as strong custom programming using common web technologies (eg. Javascript, PHP/MySQL, Java etc.). Experience working with PayPal or other payment APIs is desired, and knowledge of RESTful APIs is essential.

Candidates should have excellent customer services skills, coupled with great communications (both written and verbal)

Job Description

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Act as primary technical point of contact for the merchant for all implementation-related activities throughout the integration lifecycle. Be customer-facing as the technical lead, and drive technical conversations that result in the delivery of the project. Run technical presentations, facilitate demos and provide sample integrations that support the sales process.
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of merchants product, process and technical requirements of payment processing across all channels - and the ability to match these with existing PayPal solutions.
  • Facilitate setting up of test accounts, provide technical development support, and guide the merchant through testing, validation, certification pre-launch activities and post-sales performance.
  • Work in collaboration with a core project team across all phases of the sales cycle; pre-sale with the commercial/sales manager, customer success manager, and post-sale with technical account manager. Work with a wider cross functional team of internal PayPal business partners (legal, compliance, privacy, risk, operations etc.) that lead to the timely delivery of a partner solution integration.
  • Ensure the merchant implements optimal integration strategies and techniques with a high degree of quality utilizing PayPal’s defined best practices. Review in-depth technical information including sample code, white papers, FAQs, and snippets for distribution to PayPal partners.
  • Advise management and appropriate groups on support issues impacting customer satisfaction and provide recommendations for appropriate actions. Be the “Voice of the Customer” and relay constructive feedback to core Product, Engineering and other internal groups on ease of use and new functionality.

Job Requirements:

  • Exceptional English written and verbal business communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience as a pre-sales integration engineer, sales engineer, or technical consultant, preferably in a Professional Services environment preferred but not essential.
  • Strong understanding of online payment processing across web, mobile app, and in store.
  • Web fundamentals (HTML, JavaScript, and CSS)
  • Understanding of RESTful API design and development
  • Exposure to JavaScript front-end frameworks (e.g. AngularJS, React, or Ember etc.)
  • Familiarity with libraries like jQuery or Backbone.js
  • Front-end (CSS) frameworks like Foundation or Bootstrap
  • Proficiency in at least two server-side languages such as PHP, Python, Ruby, Java, JavaScript, and .Net
  • Familiarity with database technologies (e.g. MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB)
  • Exposure to web server technologies (e.g. Node.js, J2EE, Apache, Nginx, ISS, etc.)
  • Experience with Frameworks related to their server-side language of choice (e.g. Express.js, Ruby on Rails, CakePHP, etc.)
  • Ideal candidate will have experience in working with enterprise organizations - preferably retailers, e-commerce, shopping carts and payment gateways.
  • Ability to influence, persuade and successfully interact with all levels of client and internal organizations.
  • The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter, self-learner, proactive and customer focused, and a leader who is passionate about creating delightful experiences for our partners.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of using Salesforce is preferred. 
  • Prior experience working with shopping carts and payment gateways is a great plus.
  • Fluency in German & English
