YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Intellecutal Property Scientist, are to: 

  • Coordinate interactions among scientists and patent attorneys;
  • Search Intellectual Property (IP) and technical databases;
  • Conduct Freedom to Operate (FTO) evaluation and IP landscape assessment timely;
  • Proactively identify patentable inventions and monitor research progress;
  • Provide support to patent preparation and prosecution and draft patent applications according to business needs and priority;
  • Deliver IP education;
  • Manage IP clearance for external presentation, publication, collaboration sharing, material transfer.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree (minimal) preferred in the area of Computational Science, Biology, Agronomy, Weed Science, Crop Physiology, Chemistry, Microbiology or another related scientific field of study with more than three years research experience;
  • Must be independently motivated to succeed and measure success on a team level;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills;
  • Ability to clearly express complex scientific concepts in written and oral presentation formats;
  • Ability to work closely with diverse stakeholders;
  • Ability to work and deliver under stringent timelines;
  • Possess critical thinking and attention to detail.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong skills in bioinformatics and/or sequence analysis;
  • Project management experience;
  • Three or more years of experience in performing Freedom to Operate, IP landscape and patentability assessments, and/or patent preparation and prosecution;
  • Registered to practice with the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO);
  • Knowledge of collaboration or licensing agreements to provide IP Support and/or due diligence management.

 

Domestic Relocation may be offered for this role.
