The Role

The Head of Global Compensation & Benefits is a key role within the HR leadership team and will work closely with HR VPs and functional HR leaders to deliver C&B programmes, practices and processes that support RWS values and enable the attraction, engagement and retention of talent. The incumbent will be accountable for the strategy, implementation and operations of all compensation (including base and variable) and employee benefits programs and processes globally across the group including educating managers to ensure programmes are fully understood.

This position will establish the guidelines for global and local compensation and benefit plans, providing specialist guidance and assistance to the divisions and countries/locations, whilst ensuring compliance and advising on innovative and creative ways that deliver meaningful reward solutions that promote engagement, aid attraction and retention.

This role will work closely with the group senior leadership team and executives and will play a pivotal role in driving change within the group that will provide a consistent approach to reward.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategy, design and execution of compensation and benefits programmes to attract and retain the best talent in line with budget and business objectives, including participation in the design of equity-based compensation plans.
  • Influencing key leaders and stakeholders on reward and benefits matters in a way that monitors and maintains modern, inclusive and fair pay practices.
  • Identify and select a group wide Career Framework solution that is robust, easy to use and understand to ensure consistency and fairness and will provide a clear career path to employees so they understand how they can develop and progress at RWS
  • Identify appropriate external market data providers and manage relationships to ensure salary structures are accurately designed, benchmarked and remain competitive using the most relevant market segment data to drive performance and aid attraction and retention.
  • Identify and source Global Benefits Broker to fully understand benefits offering, meet any governance requirements and use economies of scale to drive cost efficiencies that could result in benefit changes/enhancements. Create and revise employee benefits policies to ensure they are current, competitive and meet local legal requirements.
  • Advise and support the development and execution of short-term and long-range compensation plans and budgets based on group / divisional goals, acquisitions, strategic plans and growth objectives.
  • Lead the annual reward cycle and collaborate with HR leadership team in order to deliver reward strategies that support different market segments. Collaborate with Finance to ensure budgets are correctly set and future spend is planned for.
  • Design and lead the group salary review and bonus processes, including selection of any technology that is used in order to have streamlined and time saving processes. Ensure bonus and commission plans are fit for purpose and over time are aligned on key design parameters to ensure consistency and competitiveness where appropriate.
  • Support general ad hoc activities including - Advise HR and functional leaders to ensure competitive pay, internal equity and benefits programs for employee retention or recognition ; Provision of accurate, timely and actionable data insight to support business planning ; consider need for group wide recognition programme in line with RWS values to drive engagement ; Ensure effective communication and promotion of company benefits and compensation policies ; Involvement in M&A activity as and when required ; Preparation of required documentation for Remco meetings ; Manage all 3rd party provider relationships to ensure efficiencies and best value for money.

 

Desired Skills and Competencies

  • Demonstrable experience leading a compensation and benefits function or ready to step up into a leadership role, within a large, complex, global business.
  • In depth expertise of different compensation models, structures and vehicles.
  • Familiarity with a number of different benchmarking surveys and approaches as well as job evaluation.
  • Experience working across multiple geographies.
  • Executive compensation experience.
  • Proven senior stakeholder and leadership interaction and management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to work hands-on with team.
  • Experience of managing a small team of analysts
  • Proficient in data reporting and analysis.
  • Experience in managing multi-country compensation and benefits programs.
  • Leverage technology to drive efficiency and integration of relevant compensation benefit data into relevant HR system(s).
