Job Description
Role Summary: The role of Engineer – EIS (Engineer in Shop) is to lead and support technical efforts that enable NPI development and production ramping up, and further cost out at related suppliers in region. Demonstrates leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment. In this role you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect business goals.
Essential Responsibilities: In this role, you will be based at Supplier GE office, you will report to Greater China EIS (Engineer In Shop) team in region. In addition, you will interface with organizations such as the Engineering Departments, Sourcing Organization, Quality Organization, and supplier focal departments based on business need.
  • Lead supplier SPS, MRB, SPR and etc. engineering activities, drive OTD and FTY.
  • Ownership of engineering activities as decided by the business;
  • Participate in technical reviews and tollgate reviews for assigned hardware to assure all technical options are being considered
  • Work with supplier, sourcing PM and Quality PQE, identify opportunities for Design for Manufacture (DFM) cost down, reduce MRB rate, reduce delinquency, drive LEAN production, improve hardware producibility.
  • Be able to support supplier technical department, summarize design for manufacture best practices and shared with in the network, Be able to coordinate with different functions to organize technical forum;
  • Participate in NPI review meetings and Product Line reviews for responsible suppliers and hardware.
  • Monitor and communicate project status, business issues and significant developments as appropriate.
  • Drive change by demonstrating clear thinking, articulate roles & responsibilities, manage hand-offs between different organizations.
  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
  • Formulate and implement plans to achieve technical and program requirements, schedules and customer commitments.
  • Foster and inspire a collaborative work style and display team-oriented behavior with a proactive example of communication internally and externally
Qualifications/Requirements: • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • Experience in Aviation Industry or related industry
  • Familiar with GE product, hardware design and manufacturing experience
  • In-depth understanding of engineering technology and tools
  • Strong engineering problem solving capabilities
  • Strong project management skills including cross-functional coordination of activities
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization both internally and externally
  • Ability and willingness to travel as required
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt experiences
Desired Characteristics: Demonstrated leadership in advancing the state of the art in a technical specialty

  • Familiarity with aircraft flight operations / engine operation

  • Previous experience in a sourcing support role or hardware design or machining shop experience
