The ASM Business Performance Group currently has an opportunity for interns with educational or professional backgrounds in Industrial Engineering and/or Operational Excellence. The Business Performance group at Amgen Singapore Manufacturing (ASM) is seeking candidates with a proven track record in increasing productivity, maximizing efficiency, and managing human capital, equipment, and facilities more effectively.

The Industrial Engineer/Operational Excellence (IE/OE) intern will be responsible for identifying and remediating gaps between business requirements and current capabilities. The IE/OE intern will utilize Operational Excellence (OE) and IE methodologies such as time and motion studies to improve process performance, increase productivity, and optimize costs.

The intern will be deployed on projects in the manufacturing, supply chain, or engineering functions to:

• Improve processes to ensure the highest quality, lowest cost, & shortest lead time.
• Perform resource modeling and assessments to baseline current state, identify gaps, and develop gap closure plans. 
• Close gaps leveraging robust improvement methodologies such as Lean and 6-Sigma.

Depending on final project scope, the intern will be exposed to some of the following topics: biologics/API manufacturing, business strategy, and supply chain.  The intern will receive mentoring and coaching from management, and will have opportunities to learn about Amgen, the biotechnology industry, and develop strong presentation skills.

Basic Qualifications

Amgen requires that all individuals applying for an undergraduate internship or an undergraduate co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria: 

• 18 years or older
• Completion of 1 year of study from an accredited college or university prior to the internship commencing
• Enrolled in a full time Bachelor’s or Combined Bachelor's/Master's degree program following the potential internship or co-op assignment with an accredited college or university
• Must not be employed at the time the internship starts

Preferred Qualifications

• Degree concentration(s) in Industrial Engineering, Bioengineering, or Biological Sciences
• Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills
