Are you ready to verify and validate the market leading Medium Voltage Variable Frequency Drives(VFD’s)? The Siemens, New Kensington, PA Research & Development team has an opportunity for a Test Engineering Internship. Position Overview The position participates in analyzing, developing, implementing processes, technologies, and systems for the testing of VFD products. May work with hardware and software tests or development tests of prototype products. The Test Engineering intern reports to the Director of Global Product Compliance and Testing working on Product compliance testing projects and works directly with the R&D test team. Responsibilities: Performs tests under supervision, assists with development of test procedures. Participates in software and hardware test development. Participates in preparing reports and analyzing technical issues. Reviews standards, specifications and other documents to support implementation of tests. Able to write design documents, test procedures and test reports, and rapidly gain proficiency in the use of Enterprise Architect for design documentation. Gain an understanding of steps to become a certified software tester. Needs to tackle assigned, non-routine tasks, to contribute to projects or assignments, or to support development of guidelines, methods, tools, or business processes. Independently performs basic tasks and functions. Seeks advice and mentorship from others on non-routine or problem areas. Participates in quality and process improvements. Ability to participate and adhere to project schedules and requirements. Requirements Education: Junior year or better towards BSEE, BSCE, or BSCS 0-3 years successful experience in a test role or related technical product development area with basic understanding of test concepts. Able to read schematics and find nodes on test boards Demonstrates good interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), and teamwork skills. 5% domestic or international travel.
