Job Summary As a valuable member of Eaton's Internal Audit leadership team and a direct report to the SVP of Internal Audit, the NA director of Internal Audit plans, organizes, directs and controls all aspects of Eaton's $12B NA region internal audit function. Through thoughtful leadership, the director will prepare and implement a risk-based audit plan and assess, report on and make suggestions for improving Eaton's internal control framework. This position will play a critical role in the transformation of Eaton's Internal Audit organization into a contemporary, proactive and teaching organization. This role will partner closely with regional business leaders and be sought after by leaders as an expert in various aspects of Eaton's risk management and mitigation. This role will be a talent leader and developer of talent and help create IA as a developmental destination for top talent that will gain significant experience and exposure and prepare the team for greater roles inside Eaton. Job Responsibilities This position is responsible for planning, organizing, directing and controlling all aspects of Eaton's $12B NA Internal Audit (IA) functions Establishing the regional strategic and tactical annual risk assessment and audit plan, ensuring appropriate staffing level, and to communicate the results to senior management. Directly assists the IA SVP in regular operational activities and coordinates and executes multiple global projects and initiatives. Is a key member of the Global IA Leadership team, leads regional Ethics-related investigations having a financial implication, develops and coordinates the completion of the regional external audit annual assistance plan and provides coordination with the other regional internal audit teams. Promotes organizational continuous improvement Financial policies and internal controls by working directly with Senior leaders to develop, drive and implement architectural changes and is appropriately positioned and adequately resourced to affect these changes. The changes are aligned and support Eaton's global strategies, objectives, initiatives and risks. Ability to be future focused, insightful and proactive by initiating and/or leading projects to redesign or automate audit processes to eliminate or reduce non-value added or non-key activities and/or enhance audit coverage. Provides risk-based assurance and sufficient audit coverage over company's critical control areas with existing resources using either traditional or non-traditional audit approaches. Capable of serving as coach/mentor for high potential professionals outside of the function/region. Qualifications Education level required Bachelor’s Degree In accounting, Finance or Business Administration or equivalent. Master's in Business Administration preferred Years and area of experience required Minimum of 10 years experience in Accounting or Finance. Public accounting and/or industry audit experience and at least 5 years of managerial experience preferred. Technical knowledge Ability to manage multiple large projects or a program. Ability to understands the integration between projects and coordinates timing. Acts as customer interface for all projects in that area Ability to lead and motivate audit teams, including assignment of work, monitoring of progress, review of results, performance feedback, coaching, and providing on-the-job training and development to team members Has advanced understanding of internal controls, financial accounting standards and business processes at Eaton or a prior company and can draft or make recommendations for updates to Eaton policies and procedures.
