International Benefits Analyst

Slough

Salary: £31,000 - £39,000 + Bonus

When we make brands that put smiles on people’s faces and create better moments for millions, we feel a sense of pride in our work! Today, our iconic products like M&M’S®, SNICKERS®, ORBIT®, EXTRA® and Skittles® are enjoyed in more than 180 countries.

The International Benefit Plans (IBP) Team are a team of 7 associates, managing the administration and delivery of the International Benefit Plans at Mars. The International Benefits Analyst role within this team has recently become available due to the previous job holder making a developmental move within Mars.

We are looking for to recruit a motivated and driven individual to work within our IBP Team. The role provides the analytical support to other team members to enable the administration and payment of these benefits. The purpose of the job is to ensure accurate data is obtained from Mars Incorporated globally from multiple business units and other systems and to maintain and catalogue all key information for members of the various International Benefit Plans. This requires knowledge of the different Plans and judgement in assessing data received both in terms of accuracy, completeness and relevance and further judgement in respect of which Plans it applies to. The successful candidate can expect to gain an appreciation of benefits across Mars globally and to understand how global moves help Mars manage its business.

What are we looking for?

  • An appreciation of pensions and related benefits would be useful or will need to be acquired to fulfil this role
  • Strong communicator (written & verbal) and the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with peers
  • A good and methodical organiser with an ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Very good attention to detail with an enquiring mind and a willingness to highlight potential issues.
  • Ability to interrogate existing processes and suggest improvements where appropriate.
  • Confident and skilled user of Word and Excel including updating and creating new files. User of MS Teams and an interest in other digital tools such as Power BI would be useful.

What would be your key responsibilities?

  • Maintain complete, accurate and up-to-date employment, pay data and benefits plan records for each Plan member
  • Create pension career history charts for members which requires an understanding of each individual move and the impact on benefits of assignments and permanent transfers
  • Liaison with the Global Mobility Team (GMT) to determine pension plan offerings for international moves and then to obtain signed Transfer Agreement Letters and local employment contracts.
  • Liaise with individual Host country payroll administrators to obtain historical pay data, sometimes going back many years or even decades.
  • Preparing retirement plan records for individual members globally and calculating interest adjustments throughout the year.  This is nonstandard as members have records in different countries, different currencies (which must be converted to other currencies), different pay frequencies and different pensionable pay elements, each of which need to be understood.
  • Liaise with, Mars Payroll, Pension Administrators, HR, Finance Teams, Rewards and GMT parties as necessary to ensure the timely and accurate processing and maintenance of Plan membership together with the preparation of quarterly membership reconciliations.
  • Manage the cover required under the International Life and Disability Plan for all joiners, movers and leavers including organising cover, checking invoices received from international brokers and assisting with unit cost allocation for onward cross charging.
  • Obtain information as required by the IBP Team, for movers and leavers.

What can you expect from Mars?

  • An industry competitive salary and benefits package, including excellent pension.
  • A company that understands the importance of a work-life balance.
  • The chance to take hold of your own career and develop personally and professionally.
