Position: Native English speaking person for position of teaching English in China.
Requirements are:
(1) 4-year university degree in education. Teaching experience helpful, but not required.
(2) Persons with other university majors, but having teaching experience, are also good applicants for these positions. If documentation on teaching experience can’t be provided, study in TESOL or TEFL online may be required, either in the home country or in China.
(3) Finally, other university majors with no teaching experience would qualify if they are willing to study in their home country or in China TESOL or TEFL online.

Beginning salary is 18,000 RMB per month, which at current exchange rates approximates USD 2,700 per month, USD 32,400 per year. One can expect their salary to improve with time and experience, assuming successful teaching capabilities. In higher cost of living areas salaries can be expected to be higher (for example, in Shanghai and Beijing).

In addition, housing is provided the teacher, and typically is a one room unit similar to hotel suites, with bed and bath, sitting area and kitchen facilities.

As far as transportation is concerned, the school will reimburse your actual flight expense after arrival, and contract signature, 25% each quarter. The range of allowance will be 8,000-10,000 RMB one way tickets (approximately USD $1,200-1,500 at current exchange rates). Should a teacher wish to return home for a brief period and return to teach another year, the same allowance will be provided.

Applicants would be responsible for attaining VISAs and the expense of such before travel. Upon arrival the school in China would assist with the attainment of a work VISA, and undergo the expense of such providing the applicant has the proper qualifications.

Normal requirements for attaining a work VISA are the following original documents: (1) a passport, (2) college university degree and transcript certified by the Chinese consulate, and (3) a background check from a home country law enforcement agency indicating no criminal record certified by the Chinese consulate.

The teacher will have time off during China’s national holidays. Paid sick leave of 3 days is also provided. Teachers work 40 hour weeks, and should normally expect 2 days a week off, but working on the weekends is quite common. Students range in ages of 3-16, and class sizes normally range 12-15 students. Teachers are expected to participate in school marketing events for recruitment, such occurring at times that may differ from normal classroom hours.

Health Insurance is provided by the school for foreign English teachers having work VISAs.

Duties

  • Teaching English classes following ABIE’s teaching philosophies and methodology
  • Lesson planning and preparation - at least 20 minutes before class.
  • Supervising tests, including placement, unit, midterm and final tests
  • Assisting with administration
  • Counseling students
  • Proactively participating in the school’s social program including Extra

Curricular Activities (ECA’s).

  • Actively participating in Employee training programs and workshops organized by the school.
  • Participating at promotional and marketing activities organized by the school.
  • Attending all scheduled meetings where the teachers’ presence is required.
  • Other tasks assigned by the Education Department and Center Director within his or her working hours.

Employee’s Obligations

  • The statement in the Employee’s curriculum vitae, resume and references, together with any other information submitted to the Employer in support of the Employee’s application for employment, are factual and true and not misleading in any way.
  • The Employee is in good physical health (such as having no infectious diseases or any other disease or illness that may affect teaching).
  • Does not consume any illegal substances. Will not come to the center under the influence of any substance (namely drugs or alcohol). The employee will always maintain a professional attitude and class demeanor.
  • The Employee will devote his or her full working time and attention to the duties of employment.
  • The Employee will perform the duties of his or her employment in a professional and diligent manner.
  • The Employee will obey the written and/or verbal orders and directions of the school’s management.
  • The Employee will always comply with the terms and conditions of this agreement and the rules and regulations of the Employer, such as are in effect now, and as may be forthcoming.
  • The Employee must always comply with the laws of the PRC.
  • The Employee must not harm the image of the Employer or fellow workers and administrators by his or her conduct.

Holidays

  • The Employee will be given all statutory holidays as paid holiday. The holidays are as listed afterwards: National Day (3days), New Year’s Day (1day), Spring Festival (7days), Labor Day (1day) and Christmas Day (1 day).
