Job Description

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role, International Organizations and Agricultural Trade, Crop Science, are to: 

  • Leads establishment of strategy and implementation plan to advance Global CS trade policy and LTO interests in multilateral fora, including the WTO, Biosafety Protocol, G20, APEC and other multilateral vehicles with a role in agricultural innovation and trade;
  • Identifies critical policies and public policy programs and ensures organizational awareness and context for measures that could impact (positive or negative) the organization and respond with strategy for Engagement;
  • Convenes Senior Government Officials, Senior Trade and Economic Ministers, and Senior Leaders in International Organizations with accountabilities in Ag Policy and Trade to inform Crop Science policy interests and advance Crop Science business interests;
  • Ensures that the organization's interests are represented in global rules-based organizations, and supporting bodies;
  • Recruits, hires, and manages consultants as necessary to represent Bayer in global Crop Science policy process to deliver business Objectives;
  • Establishes dialogue with senior government officials, trade and economic ministers to advance business objectives and inform global and national policies and legislation which advance that business;
  • Acts as a strategic resource on policy and trade matters for key leadership in the context of business and strategic planning.

Your success will be driven by your demonstration of our LIFE values.  More specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

 

Required Qualifications:

  • 13yrs or more experience in global political processes and political relationships and experience in global trade, regulatory, and IP matters. At least 8 of those years should be experience as a govt official or engaging directly with officials in areas of policy development;
  • Bachelors degree, and proven track record in leadership roles.;
  • Demonstrated conversancy in global crop science business and global trade disciplines, with particular knowledge of WTO SPS agreement and IP agreements;
  • Experience in global trade negotiations with a focus on agriculture, and application of global trade obligations/rules;
  • Proven ability to shape high level political decisions, lead with Influence;
  • Strong strategic mindset & ability to manage ambiguity.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Legal training preferred;
  • Masters degree preferred.
