Reporting directly to the EVP, International, and working closely with the iLT sponsor of R&I, the R&I Commercial Director will be a crucial strategic interface between Regional and Commercial Units - responsible for achieving commercial brands’ P&L and leading the International R&I Leadership Team.
You will drive the International R&I business strategy, including inputs into business development cases and pipeline acceleration, providing clear strategic direction to help shape the R&I portfolio strategy, drive commercial execution and become a strategic liaison between Global and Area/MC Commercial Units
You will develop customized strategies for AZ R&I brands in the International markets including Sales, Marketing, Market/Patient Access and patient-centric disease solutions; facilitate implementation by developing business objectives and KPIs to drive performance
Major KPIs for the role include sales, growth and market performance of AZ R&I brands as well as acceleration of new product launches
This role reports to the EVP, International and will have 6 direct reports in additional to plan100 assignees and this position plays a pivotal role in setting all R&I therapy area strategy and tactics to maximise growth for the International R&I portfolio.
This role will develop customized strategies for AZ R&I brands in the International markets including Sales, Marketing, Market/Patient Access and patient-centric disease solutions as well as facilitate implementation, by developing business objectives and KPIs to drive performance and strategy implementation in local markets.
You will develop business objectives and KPIs to drive performance and strategy implementation in local markets, guide and partner with in-market R&I BU heads to build robust country BSP and drive performance to ensure we realise our bold ambition.
Partnering with Global and other global cross-functional leaders on portfolio / brand strategy and objectives you will ensure launch readiness/excellence for new products in the International Region and rapid dissemination of best practices sharing.
You will develop and implement new models for patient access in various market archetypes as well as facilitate the implementation of price approvals and reimbursement across the International markets, working in close collaboration with both the Regional and Global market access function.
This role will also support the continued development of the MC’s commercial excellence and core capabilities, as well as other regional project responsibilities as required.
Essential skills and experience
Strong knowledge of R&I Therapeutic area
Solid large country BUD Experience and P&L Management
Experience as a CP in a medium market or BUD large market
Innovative launch capability and in Emerging Markets
Brand specific change management & transformation experience in patient journey
Experience of being able to challenge, influence, contract and drive change with the most senior stakeholders across different countries or functions
Strong business analytical skills with the ability to (1) translate key insights into strategy / tactics and (2) identify, understand and communicate key drivers of performance
Strategic leader with the ability to assess current and future needs based on analysis of risks, opportunities and priorities
Commercial experience in emerging markets (ideally in-market ) including understanding of various healthcare systems and Regulatory & Medical aspects of pharmaceutical industry
Mobility (frequent business trips – min 50%)
Fluency in English
Bachelor Degree in Science or Business, MBA preferred
Desirable skills and experience
Previous experience and personal skills that allow one to be rapidly operational in the role (e.g., open-minded, creative highly dynamic and energetic)
Ability to operate in multi-cultural environment and influence through positive engagement
Strong drive for performance and sense of urgency
