To provide unique, distinct and valuable research and market intelligence on video surveillance contributing to the success of Omdia’s Physical Security Area and consulting in terms of research quality and timelines. The Intern role is responsible for:

• Data – collecting secondary research and working with primary data. 
• Work with complex quantitative market models and forecasts​
• Reports – detailed and insightful text to support data and to provide customers with clear guidance on market outlook, trends, landscape and tech impact
• Presentations – developing presentations in support of the analyst team
• Consulting – assisting on market specific custom consulting projects 

Key responsibilities

The Intern is expected to assume the following key responsibilities plus any other reasonable duties as required:

• Coverage – Assist the analyst team on providing up to date market activity
• Secondary research - collecting a variety of secondary research to support ongoing analyst products.
• Building base data – Assist the analyst team in using primary and secondary research to build credible base data; ensuring sufficient and continually improving coverage of market players; creating estimates where publicly available sources are not available; ensuring consistency with related data/markets; logging all assumptions and workings in a clear way; identifying time saving workarounds​
• Analysis – assist in providing qualitative analysis where possible to support and justify data with a focus on change and development; understand and communicate the “so what?”; discuss the impact of technology and key market trends; include guidance on risks and opportunities 

Skills, Abilities & Knowledge

• Ability to work in corporate environments with a proactive approach to market research and data collection.
• A hunger to learn and develop new skills.
• Any data and information gathering skills considered a bonus
• Multitasking – ability to prioritise competing tasks effectively​
• Ability to find and piece together data from multiple sources and to connect the dots; able to create the “story”​
• Use assumptions and logical thinking to create estimates and scenarios 
• Planning and executing deliverables to capture key research highlights
• Excel – some grasp of Excel for data building, data manipulation, and pivot table creation​
• Experience working collaboratively towards a common goal; knows who and where to seek support ​
• Languages - both English & Chinese
