Mercedes-Benz has invented the automobile. Now, with our Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS), we will take the leadership in in-car software. MB.OS is a holistic software-driven approach that spans across networking, embedded hard- and software on both microcontrollers and powerful POSIX-based systems, all the way to the Cloud and IoT devices. MB.OS is developed predominantly in-house and in collaboration with strong partners. It enables us to rapidly create new features for customers, spanning all of the systems mentioned before.

To work with MB.OS effectively, our developers require a consistent, all-encompassing development ecosystem, comprised of both easy-to-use libraries and modern tools. Our team is responsible for providing this ecosystem, targeting not only developers across all RD (Research & Development)-departments, but also designers, UX specialists, and engineers, allowing all of them to bring our vision for the future of mobility to life.

Research before Development
Your work starts with research about current trends in development tools. You will get a chance to try the tools, provide your assessment of their use for MB.OS development, and develop your own, innovative ideas for new tools that target specific requirements of automotive software. You will present your results comprehensively to domain-experts within Mercedes-Benz and provide your recommendations.

Shape the SDK
Based on the results of your research, you will identify promising ideas for either software development tools, UX prototyping tools, or hardware solutions to quickly leverage new technologies in real cars. You will implement these ideas as an extension for one of our in-house tools and work with stakeholders to get feedback quickly. You will also drive the standardization and automation of processes.

Outside of the box
You are part of a team of experienced software developers and get to know the daily reality of agile software development in the automotive context. You will have a personal mentor by your side, every step of the way. Of course, you will have the opportunity to get to know various teams within Mercedes-Benz, to get a well-rounded impression of the inner workings of a world-leading Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM).

In case of exceptional performance, the contract can be extended for a Bachelor’s or Master’s thesis.
