Position Overview Siemens Industry – Factory Automation business unit has a Intralogistics System Application Engineer Drives and Motion position available. The position is focused on drives and motion control solutions in the intralogistics industry. The intralogistics sector is facing new challenges, at least because of the rapid growth of e-commerce. Growing inventory turnover rates with ever-shorter storage periods, small order quantities with fast delivery times, increasing return rates, and increased delivery quantities on short notice all require flexible, scalable intralogistics processes with maximum reliability and availability. Siemens plays a key role in meeting these challenges. The System Application Engineer Drives and Motion is the technical lead for developing solutions and approaches to intralogistics applications. This is an outstanding opportunity to join a strong team providing the best end to end industrial automation and motion solutions in the market. Responsibilities Acts as the technical lead for intralogistics opportunities and actively participates in account planning sessions with the intralogistics team. Applies acquired process, product and/or equipment knowledge based on current industry trends, best practices, performance, price and functionality. Provides technical product advice for the development and implementation of complex or unique customer solutions. Prepares and presents detailed technical proposals, including product demonstrations and solution prototypes. Performs complex hardware and/or software design consultation in accordance with customer/project needs. Resolves highly complex technical problems to meet customers' needs. Acts as one escalation point for major customer technical issues when on-site issue resolution is required. Coordinates with the intralogistics team to develop and implement effective technical knowledge transfer to customers, Siemens, and channel personnel. Generates specific technical collateral such as application notes and examples for reuse by others. Assist customers with commissioning machines, debugging complex drives and motion control systems and machine processes, testing and tuning technology functions, and optimizing machine performance. Implements a yearly learning and development plan focusing on technical skills and engineering soft skills. Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience A Intralogistics System Application Engineer Drives and Motion is experienced in drives and motion architectures involving multiple products and technologies and has comprehensive knowledge in architecting complex solutions in the intralogistics industry. Technical Skills Required Motion Control and Drives Controllers (PLCs) Networking Machine Safety HMI Panels Engineering Soft Skills Required Solution fitting Proof of concept Technical selling Mentoring Bachelor of Science or higher in electrical engineering, computer science, or related engineering field. Typically 5-10 years of experience in motion and drive systems and demonstration of key responsibilities and knowledge as presented above. Up to 40% travel. Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience Prior Siemens motion and drives experience. Knowledge of competitors products.
