Responsible for providing assistance on overall risk oversight, challenge and analytic insights to both the assets and liabilities of the Company’s balance sheet, through consistent identification, measurement and application of financial risk metrics that are consistent with risk appetite and regulatory constraints.

Work closely with key 1st line stakeholders and help drive risk-based discussion to ensure AIAHK’s investment, fund and structural risks are proactively identified, well-understood, and prudently managed to support the Company’s strategy.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Investment, Fund and Structural Risk Management

  • Participate in Investment risk discussions (including property price, equity price, credit default, credit spread, investment liquidity and counterparty credit), structural risk (including mismatch in asset price, interest rate, FX rate and funding liquidity) related activities and fund risk (including ILAS and pension funds) initiatives;
  • Support the rollout of relevant risk policies and standards and perform compliance monitoring on a regular basis. Provide positive challenge on risk tolerances and risk limits stipulated in policies and standards;
  • Assess and quantify investment, fund and structural risks;
  • Provide a risk perspective on the capital strategy and deployment throughout the Group;
  • Assist in advising stakeholders (e.g. 1st Line of Defence) on SAA, TAA, derivative use and other investment decisions;
  • Challenge 1st Line of Defence, providing 2nd Line perspective on investment portfolio proposals;
  • Advise stakeholders (e.g. Senior Executives) on strategic decisions with reference to the financial risk appetite and profile;
  • Provide constructive challenge on risk models;
  • Perform 2nd line oversight on new initiatives and projects from financial risk perspective.

Reporting and Monitoring (as second line of defence)

  • Facilitate and organize relevant committees’ meeting such as the Financial Risk Committee (FRC);
  • Facilitate regular risk reporting submission to Group Office, risk committees and escalation of key risks to management;
  • Work with Investment, Actuarial, Finance and Capital Management to monitor the performance of company investment portfolios and mandates on a regular basis;
  • Monitor adherence of investments against relevant limits by maintaining and updating the investment risk limits monitoring platform on PowerBI.

Engagement in other business initiatives & promote effective risk management culture

  • Support the enterprise risk management framework;
  • Participate in the development and implementation of IFRS 17 and provide independent advice to the business based on the nature and extent of company’s risk exposure;
  • Engage business by aligning focuses, enhance relationships and provide holistic independent constructive risk advice;
  • Perform other responsibilities and duties periodically assigned by supervisor to meet other requirements.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • University graduate with minimum 5 years relevant experience;
  • CFA or CAIA preferred;
  • Strong programming/modelling skill with PowerBI knowledge a plus;
  • Strong problem-solving, effective communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Developed financial acumen and business orientation;
  • Comfortable to give constructive challenge on key initiatives and projects and provide an independent assessment;
  • Ability to communicate the financial risk matters with senior management effectively.

Candidate with less experience will be considered as Specialist (Assistant Manager Level).
