Job Description
The Investment Proxy Research team is responsible for creating proxy research, benchmarking, voting execution, compliance, audit and reporting functions for over 12K issuers annually. The team supporting several passive, active, and brokerage investment management firms who have proxy voting authority over their clients’ holdings. The team establishes appropriate proxy voting policies, procedures, and guidelines relative to regulations, benchmarking and industry best practices. The Analyst will be responsible for overseeing the day to day research and processing activity in support of accurate and timely vote execution on behalf of Investment Management firms within the BNY Mellon complex of asset managers. The incumbent will continuously review appropriate controls and monitoring mechanisms to ensure adherence to policy, guidelines, vendor obligations and voting procedures while coordinating all activities carefully with the Governance manager and the IM Voting Committees. Under guidance from more senior colleagues, conducts, coordinates and analyzes market intelligence for internal clients. Supports colleagues and project or business unit managers to define research goals, design instruments/methods and field the research. Create supporting exhibits (tables, graphs) for leadership presentations under the guidance of more senior analysts. Builds knowledge of available data sources and how to leverage internal and external systems, databases, etc. to develop theories, describe characteristics, and explain motivations behind market behaviors and environments. Gathers internal and external research via Internet, trade publications, paid online databases on marketplace issues/trends and business intelligence for select Bank operational areas. Assists more senior analysts with assembly and review of data, conducts statistical analyses, completes studies of markets and industry groups. Acquires and begins to apply knowledge of departmental methods and procedures. Qualifications Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in business, mathematics/statistics, or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required. 3-5 years of total work experience preferred or graduate degree preferred.
