Job Summary
The Commercial delivery network is truly global in scale with resources in Asia, US, UK, China, Brazil, Turkey and India.
The Release Engineer will be part of COE application Development team for across the globe, based out of state of the art IT facility in Chennai. Release Engineer will be responsible for monthly releases, Impact Analysis, Environment readiness and providing multiple resolution to a problem associated with SFDC.
Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Managing release engineering services for multiple platforms within an assigned portfolio
- Demonstrate ability to manage risks across platform release activities and release trains
- Demonstrate success in managing AZ network and functions to drive platform engineering solutions
- Coach and mentor SDC process knowledge to release engineering team aligned with the platform team
- In collaboration with SDC leads and Platform Engineering Lead and Platform Release Manager, establish Platform Management strategies aligned with Commercial IT strategies
- Possess and maintain expert-level technical knowledge of platforms within the assigned portfolio
- Demonstrate SME level knowledge and performance with Platform and Release Engineering tools, technologies
- Lead in defining new release engineering ways of working
- Build/configuration/administration and troubleshooting of a highly complex core application and multiple ancillary products with new products coming online all the time.
- Ad hoc troubleshooting of release blockers (hardware, configuration, code) and support triaging efforts related to customer impacting production issues.
- Execute code promotions in preparation for releases.
- Participate in weekly calls with release management to plan and prepare all production facing releases.
- While production release operations are your primary responsibility, you may also have opportunities to put on your developer hat for scripting and automation projects to optimize our release processes.
Required Skills :
- The ideal candidate has a working knowledge of Linux Administration background along with scripting experience (BASH, Python, Pearl, etc.). Operations experience is also a plus.
- Knowledge of Linux OS, shell scripting and GNU tools
- A keen analytical, structured and detail-oriented approach to problem-solving required.
- Intro training and experience in object-oriented and/or functional programming required.
- Low-level application support background, e.g. Unix / Web middleware development and/or QA
- Working confidence in the following required: ETL and database
- Familiarity with puppet/ chef, extensive knowledge of network protocols; as well as Web software architecture and frameworks.
- 1st and 2nd tier technical support experience in Jetty/Web/Java type applications
- Performance-oriented understanding of software and hardware architecture.
- Production operations experience required, e.g. Root Cause Analysis and process improvement.
- A good foundation in the following technologies desired: Python, Perl, Puppet.
- Familiarity with Windows Server OS, .NET framework and IIS.
- Customer-first attitude and strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Adept and comfortable working in a rapidly changing matrix environment required.
- Video encoding and transcoding systems administration and operation a big plus.
- Familiarity with Web content management systems is a big plus.
- Good communicator and able to articulate complex issues and technologies

- Willing to begin taking ownership of problems and see them through to resolution
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced agile environment. Requirements change quickly and our team needs to constantly adapt to moving targets.
