We are looking for a Junior Controller within the Global Accounting organization. We are looking for someone with solid experience in accounting and a strong understanding of other functional Finance areas such as Treasury, Financial Systems or Risk & Controls.

As part of the Global Accounting team, your focus will include end-to-end responsibility of elements such as global fixed assets and lease accounting, and consolidated reporting to the holding organization (Booking Holdings) based in USA. In this role as Junior Controller, you will be part of a dynamic organization of finance professionals and will report directly to the Financial Controller of Reporting. You will be working from our headquarters in Amsterdam, but will interact regularly with the regional accounting teams based in New York, Sao Paulo, Singapore and Shanghai.

Strong communication and people leadership skills are essential. You will be keen to develop and grow within the role and challenge yourself to take on additional projects and responsibilities as they present themselves.

B.Responsible

  • Lead various global accounting processes including fixed assets and lease accounting,
  • Play a crucial role in reporting Booking.com financials to Booking Holdings in USA,
  • Responsible for various end-to-end processes monthly close processes including several within SOX reporting scope,
  • Drive standardization and creation of global processes, automation and simplification of tasks
  • Identify, follow-up, initiate and prioritize process improvements which directly impact daily activities within the accounting and finance department,
  • Partner with Financial Controllers on a day-to-day basis and align on priorities and roadmaps for the full Global Accounting department
  • Partner with other key Finance departments such as Treasury, P2P, Financial systems and Process, Risk & Controls on process improvement,
  • Driving best practice from a SOX perspective,
  • Provide coaching and development for team members,
  • Work directly with Booking Holdings accounting team on Group processes and complex accounting matters
  • Act as a connector with the regional accounting teams by leading cross team efforts

B.Skilled

  • University (Accounting, Business, Economic) degree and/or post-graduate education (RA/CPA)
  • 5+ years experience in finance and/or accounting preferably within a Big4 environment and multi-national corporate environment
  • Sound knowledge of US GAAP,
  • SOX control and process knowledge and experience,
  • Experienced in working in a team in an international company and matrix organization,
  • Track record in successfully representing finance in cross-functional projects
  • Enthusiastic about innovation,
  • Adaptability and capability to lead and drive change,
  • High levels of personal effectiveness, particularly communication, organization and the ability to focus on achieving project deadlines,
  • Proven ability and the credibility to persuade and influence in effecting changes within an organization,
  • Strong interpersonal skills and stakeholder management,
  • Enthusiastic, proactive and driven,
  • Ambitious and inquisitive attitude,
  • Fluent in spoken and written English,
  • Strong IT experience in financial systems, including SAP and Hyperion/Smartview, is preferable.
