Junior Scientist

How will you make an impact?

 The Molecular Biology business is establishing a dedicated team to support new product development in Molecular Biology Tools and Gene Synthesis. This requires working in matrixed teams across other functions such as product management, operations, IP, and program/ portfolio management in our new product development process. The team is expected to scout for ideas and technologies, conceive own ideas and solutions and execute feasibility and development to meet goals articulated by our business partners.

The team will work in close collaboration with other R&D teams at the Vilnius site and our site in Regensburg as well as business partners in the US.

If you are a self-directed & creative scientist, collaborative and passionate about science, engaging in action and focused to deliver, with the ability to collaborate with other scientists and influence across other functions, you are the right candidate to become part of our Cloning Tools& Synthesis Team.

What will you do?

 Supporting the R&D new product development strategy, as a scientist you will:

  • Maintain detailed records of all work carried out and report out in a clear, timely and informative manner.
  • Execute experimental work with diligence, speed and accuracy.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation, and recommend replacement as needed.
  • Prepare written reports, give presentations and present posters at exhibitions and conferences.
  • Solve scientific challenges in collaboration with colleagues.
  • Liaise effectively with partners in other functions involved in our new product development process.
  • Effectively communicate with partners at different sites and across multiple time zones.
  • Support identification of disruptive innovation and strategic partnership opportunities.
  • Work alongside product management to develop and manage ideas for new product innovations in line with Molecular Biology business objectives for growth.
  • Collaborate with customers and commercial partners to gain understanding of market & customer needs.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.

How will you get here?

Essential:

  • Bachelor in Life Sciences discipline.

Advantage:

  • M.S. degree in Life Sciences discipline and hands-on experience of 1-2 years preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Knowledge of major molecular biology techniques, knowledge of synthetic biology principles is a plus.
  • Proven execute experimental work according to plan and interpret results.
  • Proven ability to design, plan and execute project tasks and scientific research independently or with minimal supervision.
  • Good interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.

Additional Competencies:

  • Ideally, naturally curious, proactive and entrepreneurial.
  • Fluent in English (spoken, written).
  • Ability to collaborate across multiple sites, teams and time zones.
  • Technical communication requirements: ability to produce and present original technical communication materials for internal and external audiences.
  • Proficiency in PC software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.
